In 1976, Huixian City announced the Great Buddha Hall as a key cultural relic protection unit at the county level. In 2005, it was announced as a key cultural relic protection site at the municipal level by the Xinxiang City Government. In 1990, the famous film director Xie Jin used it as a location for filming the movie "The Bells of Qingliang Temple", and put the Great Buddha Hall and the Eighteen Pangu Road on the screen.
