The Historical Origin of Miao Lusheng Dance
According to the History of Zhongxing written by the Song Xiong in the Ming Dynasty, Hei Manlong, the leader of Miao people in Guizhou, led Miao soldiers to follow the hero Yue Fei in resisting gold, and Hei Manlong made meritorious deeds, and the court named him General Longhu. Because Yue Fei was framed and imprisoned, Black Dragon angrily resigned and returned to his hometown. After learning of Yue Fei's death, Black Dragon died of grief. Miao compatriots built a temple in memory of him, calling it the black god, and took Lusheng dance as a sacrificial dance. This dance is called "Drum Dragon Drum Tiger-Long-sleeved Dragon" because Heimanlong was once named General Dragon and Tiger.
In the second year of Taiding in Yuan Dynasty (1325), Di Liang, the leader of the Pingding Department of Dapingqie, surrendered to the imperial court and established the "Pingding Department of Shunyuan Road Civilians", which also used drums and dragons as a celebration dance.
In the past, the dragon with a drum and a tiger robe was only performed at funerals and worship ceremonies. With the development of the times, its functions are gradually enriched, and it is carried out together with activities such as building houses, calming nerves, marriage, funeral, and erecting monuments.
