Sun Shrine, Jiangning District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, Sun Shrine

Standing at the intersection of Longmian Avenue and Zhilan Road in Jiangning District, Nanjing, looking northwest, there are several gray broken walls and roofs in a bush hundreds of meters away. That's Sun Shrine. The ancestral hall is dominated by Huizhou style, with the gate facing south, the main entrance and lobby still existing, and there are two archways on each side, of which the archway on the east side is relatively well preserved. The archway is nearly 1 meters high, and the square forehead is engraved with "Jiexiao Square". The villagers said that this is a newly built memorial archway for filial piety, and there was originally a plaque above it with the word "imperial edict" written on it, which was given by Emperor Qianlong, but unfortunately it was stolen a few years ago.

When I came to the vestibule, two drum-shaped horse-tied stones with a diameter of nearly 1 meter were placed on the east side of the gate. "There used to be a pair of stone lions here, one was stolen and the other was moved to Jiangning Science Park." The villagers said. There is also a group of buildings behind the ancestral hall, which have three entrances, but the shrubs that are more than one person high are too dense to pass. From a distance, the last building debris has been ruined, and the second one is only the residual wall.

It is said that two-thirds of the villagers in the village are surnamed Sun, all of whom belong to the same clan. A few years ago, there were villagers guarding the ancestral temple, but one day a boa constrictor appeared, scaring the doorman into staying.

Before liberation, a large box of genealogy and official robes of the Qing Dynasty were preserved in the attic of the ancestral hall. In those days, when Chen Yi was fighting a guerrilla war in Maoshan, the Sun clan members used pole to carry money and food to the New Fourth Army, and the queue was more than 1 miles long. There is also a legend among the villagers: the man who built the ancestral temple was nicknamed "Sun Million", and a rich man in the neighboring village was nicknamed "Xia Countless". The two fought for wealth, and Sun Million built this ancestral temple to show his wealth.

The villagers said that in the past few years, people often went in, some were cultural relics dealers, who specialized in stealing valuable brick carvings, stone carvings and components, digging and prying everywhere, others tore down the walls and stole those big logs, which led to the ancestral temple becoming more and more dilapidated.

In p>23, when Jiangning was demolished to build a university town, Xiawangshu Village in chunhua town was also demolished, but the Sunjia Ancestral Temple in the village was preserved under the appeal of cultural and cultural institutions. Today, this ancestral temple has been stolen many times because it is unguarded, and most of the buildings have collapsed and become ruins.

"The ancestral hall is now a cultural relics control unit at Jiangning district level." A person in charge of the Cultural Relics Section of Jiangning District Bureau of Culture and Broadcasting told the reporter that Jiangning District declared Sun Shrine as a district-level cultural protection unit, but it is still under review. The property right unit of Sunjia Ancestral Temple is Jiangning Science Park. At present, it is coordinating with the other party to maintain and repair the ancient ancestral temple, and a planning scheme is being made, but it is still unknown when it will really enter the stage of protection and maintenance.
