What are the customs in Shanxi?
1. Tiancang Festival, Tiancang means wishing that farmers’ granaries will be full of grain. The Tiancang Festival falls on the 25th day of the first lunar month every year. The actual meaning is to add things to the granary in the hope of increasing production and income that year.
2. June 6th is called the "Returning to Mother's Home Festival" in southern Shanxi. Around June 6th, the wheat harvest has been completed, and it is in a slack period. It is an excellent time to visit relatives. Therefore, there is a popular saying among the people, "June 6th, go out and stop wheat." On June 6th, many places in Shanxi turned into temple fairs.
3. Temple fairs. Through business transactions at temple fairs, Shanxi people sell excess agricultural products in exchange for items that they cannot produce, such as farm equipment. Various folk social and artistic performances such as rockers and lights.
4. Building a prosperous fire. Making a prosperous fire is a custom in the northern part of Shanxi. Every New Year's Eve and Lantern Festival, large pieces of coal are used to build a tower in front of the courtyard door, which is called a prosperous fire, for good luck.
5. Dough sculptures. Shanxi folk dough sculptures are mainly sacrifices and prayers to heaven, earth and gods, and are the embodiment of life ideals.
