Working principle of BMW electronic valve
Compared with the popularization of turbocharging at present, the technical content of various variable valves and valve lift technologies is more abundant. In fact, other brands also have lift technology, but the electronic valve control of BMW Valvetronic is a bit different and "infinite". Traditionally, when the engine steps on the accelerator, the computer converts the signal to the throttle in the intake manifold, and the throttle is responsible for the opening adjustment, thus changing the amount of air entering the cylinder. The fuel supply system monitors the amount of air passing through the throttle and then decides how much oil to inject. This is how the throttle controls the engine. As soon as the BMW Valvetronic engine steps on the accelerator, the signal is directly transmitted to the stepper motor at the top of the engine intake and exhaust valves. After receiving the signal, the stepping motor will rotate moderately to change the opening depth of the intake valve. The shallower the throttle is stepped, the shallower the intake valve is opened, the deeper the throttle is stepped, and the deeper the intake valve is opened. In this way, the existence of throttle valve is only for safety reasons. When you start the engine, the throttle body is already at the maximum opening. In actual driving, the traditional throttle does not participate in air intake control at all. Intake control directly changes the lift of the intake valve to control the engine speed, and the intake valve can be stepless regulated between 0.18 mm-9.9 mm. This design not only saves fuel, but also has an important advantage, that is, the throttle response time is accelerated. Traditionally, the engine uses the throttle to control the throttle, presses the throttle to open the throttle, and waits for air to flow into the intake manifold before a large amount of air enters the cylinder. Valvetronic engine directly controls the opening depth of the intake valve by stepping on the accelerator, and a large amount of air immediately enters the cylinder. Variable valve lift can be divided into adjustable variable lift and continuous variable lift according to its control effect. We often hear that many Japanese lift technologies are two-stage adjustable lift, that is, there are two ways to open the valve. The continuous variable lift is from shallow to deep and then from deep to shallow, which can be controlled at will, not two points, but a line.
