Where is Shanhaiguan?

Shanhaiguan is located in the northeast of Shanhaiguan District, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province 15km, at the eastern end of the Ming Great Wall. Shanhaiguan is one of the northeast passes of the Great Wall in Ming Dynasty, also known as Chongqing Pass and Lulin Pass. Built in the fourteenth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, it is called Shanhaiguan because it is close to mountains and seas.

Shanhaiguan, Tongguan and other military passes are collectively referred to.

Ten famous customs, as the name implies, are the top ten military customs that have played an important role in the history of our country. They have made great contributions to the defense of the past dynasties and won their own status. They are Shanhaiguan, Tongguan, Jiayuguan, Juyongguan, Youyiguan, Yanmenguan, Zijingguan, Jianmenguan, Niangziguan and Wushengguan. They are famous for their dangerous terrain and easy to defend but difficult to attack.

Shanhaiguan is located in the northeast of Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province15km, so it is named because it is located between mountains and seas. This is the throat of Northeast China and North China, the first pass at the starting point of the Great Wall in Wan Li, and it is called "the first pass in the world" together with Tongguan in Shaanxi.

Shanhaiguan is an ancient cultural city. The walls of the Ming Dynasty were basically intact, and most of the main streets and alleys were well preserved. In particular, a number of quadrangles have been preserved, making the ancient city more elegant and simple. The first gate in the world, the East Gate of Guancheng, stands on the Great Wall and overlooks the four fields. On the second floor of the tower, you can overlook Shanhaiguan City and the panoramic view of Yuan Ye outside Shanhaiguan.

Tongguan is located in the north of Tongguan County, Weinan City, Shaanxi Province, with the Yellow River in the north and the mountainside in the south. It has a long history and is famous far and near. As for the throats of North China, Central Plains and Northwest China, Shui Jing Zhu records: "The river flows south in the pass and stirs the mountain, so it is called Tongguan." Tonglang is fierce, hence the name Tongguan Pass, also known as Chongguan Pass.

Wushengguan is located at the foot of Jigong Mountain in Dabie Mountain at the junction of Henan Province and Hubei Province. Together with Pingjingguan and Jiuliguan, it is also called "Yiyang Three Customs", which is a battleground for military strategists in past dynasties and has the reputation of "Guanzhong Customs".
