How to judge a cold front or a warm front
Cold fronts and warm fronts can be judged according to the direction of movement of cold and warm air masses. If the movement of cold air masses is in only one direction of warm air masses, it means that the cold air masses are strong and are cold fronts; if the cold air masses rotate when they encounter warm air masses, it means that they are strong. The warm air mass is strong and is called a warm front.
Judge based on the front slope tolerance:
When the cold air mass moves fast and is strong, the warm air mass is strongly lifted, forming a cold front with a larger slope; while the warm air mass moves The speed is slow and when the warm air mass is strong, the warm air mass climbs slowly. The warm front formed has a smaller frontal slope.
Judge based on the symbol of the front:
If a triangular sawtooth symbol appears on the weather situation map, it means a cold front, and the side with the triangular sawtooth is in front of the front and is also the front. Movement direction; if a semicircle symbol appears, it indicates a warm front, and the side with the semicircle is the front of the front and is also the direction of movement of the front.
Judgment based on weather changes: When a cold front passes through, weather phenomena such as wind, cloudy days, precipitation, and cooling often occur. After the cold front passes through, the cold air mass replaces the original position of the warm air mass, so the temperature and humidity decrease, the air pressure increases, and the weather becomes sunny. When a warm front passes through, cloudy days, rainfall and other weather phenomena often occur. After the warm front passes, the warm air mass takes the place of the original cold air mass, so the temperature rises, the air pressure drops, and the weather becomes sunny.
Judgment based on the precipitation characteristics when passing through: When a cold front and a warm front pass through, different precipitation characteristics are produced. Because the cold front moves quickly, the precipitation is intense and short-lived. Because the warm front moves slowly, the precipitation intensity is small and lasts a long time, and there is often continuous precipitation.
