Hongjue Temple was built in 503, the second year of Liang Dynasty. Backed by Niushou Mountain, facing Yuntai Mountain and surrounded by mountains, it is one of the eight famous temples in Nanjing in Ming Dynasty. While resuming construction, Hongjue Temple also paid great attention to the construction of Taoist ethics and the cultivation of monks. After more than ten years of unremitting efforts, the Taoist style is rigorous and the monks are talented. At present, there are more than 200 monks/kloc-0 and lay people in the temple, which has become the mainstay of Buddhism in Nanjing.
