Impression of Konglong
I am not from Konglong, but I have heard of Konglong’s name when I was very young. At that time, every time I took a bus with my family on the way to Jiujiang via Xiaochi, I would always hear the conductor shouting at the top of his voice, "Konglong, Konglong, get off the bus quickly!" I remember when I heard the word "Konglong" for the first time, I immediately Looking at the dinosaurs in my dizzy head, I couldn't help but look out the window curiously - there were many shops, noisy crowds, and spacious streets, which seemed to be much more lively than an ordinary small town.
This is my first impression of Konglong. I remember it because of the pronunciation of its name. From then on, every time I drove by Konglong, I couldn't help but look at it a few more times, and wondered over and over whether there really were dinosaurs here.
Later, because of a teaching and research activity, a teacher Liu from Konglong and I drove to Konglong No. 2 Middle School. When the car drove to the boundary of Konglong, I suddenly remembered the doubt I had when I was a child, and couldn't help but ask Teacher Liu casually. After hearing my doubts, Teacher Liu couldn't help but laugh. After laughing, he seriously explained to me the origin of the place name Konglong. Only then did I know that "Konglong" is the abbreviation of "Kongjialong Dam", not that there are dinosaurs here. I also laughed a lot because of my naivety. In the midst of laughter, Teacher Liu took the initiative to introduce to me the glorious history of Konglong - Konglong was one of the three oldest towns in Huangmei and was an important industrial town in the county in the middle of the last century. An important agricultural town and a major fishery town. At that time, state-owned enterprises such as Konglong Cotton Mill were extremely popular, and their employees were in hot demand when they went on a blind date. Teacher Liu said frankly that his wife was an employee of a cotton spinning factory, but unfortunately she was laid off more than ten years ago. Teacher Liu was full of sighs in his words, but he quickly said in a loud voice: "Although the development of Konglong is not what it used to be, some of Konglong's snacks are still very famous!" Then he recommended to me like a treasure trove of treasures. Twist twists, dried soy sauce, Da Lao Hu cakes... The car has already arrived at the campus of Huangmei No. 2 Middle School, and Teacher Liu is not done yet. "Let's talk later!" Teacher Liu said frankly as he got out of the car.
Get off the car and go upstairs. Standing on the teaching building of No. 2 Middle School, you can see the lush green fields, arch bridges, clear flowing water, and the charm of the south of the Yangtze River. Although I did not see the prosperity that Teacher Liu mentioned, I have become interested in Konglong, not because of its name, but because of its scenery. I thought to myself that I must take a walk around the streets and alleys of Konglong if I have the opportunity to feel the style of this small town that I misunderstood from the beginning.
This opportunity finally came by this year’s spring breeze. The weather in April was perfect, and I planned to go to Konglong to collect wind around the stove. After hearing the news, I immediately had the urge to sign up, but I was worried that the time would not be right. Looking forward to it, praying, and thanking God for his good will, my Konglong trip finally came true.
Accompanied by the big brother from Konglong, we walked through the streets and alleys of Konglong. From Donggang to Xinggang, from Dongfanghong Wharf to Tanhu Bridge, from Laodong Street to Chopstick Street, from Guan Gong Temple to Wanniantai, from Soybean Farm to Jitangba...
Little by little we Feel the cultural atmosphere of Konglong. Some literary friends from Kong Longji couldn't help but talk about the appearance of a certain place in their memories wherever they went, with their voices full of pride and emotion. As a visitor to Konglong, I had no choice but to listen to the strange place names one after another while looking at the ruins of culture and imagining how prosperous it was back then.
The water surface of Donggang is still wide, but the lively cruise ships of the past are missing; the ruins of Wanniantai where Xing Xiu Niang sang in the opera are still there, but the opera singers and listeners are only old men and old ladies; Laodong There are still frame houses and wooden houses on the streets.
There are also old-fashioned glass shop windows and cotton craftsmen’s shops along the streets, but their existence seems to be incompatible with the modernization of the town;
Chopstick Street is still there, but the bluestone slabs from back then are missing; names such as "Soybean Farm" and "Zhubatou" are still there, but the mountains of soybeans and countless piglets are not there; the sacrificial pond is still there, but the ten One of the sceneries, the moonlight shadow on the sacrificial pond, has long been disillusioned and turned into a filthy pond...
"Everything is there, everything is not there!" A fellow literary friend said with emotion. Looking at their sentimental looks, I suddenly felt a bit envious and regretful. I envied that their childhood had the prosperous Konglong as the background, and regretted that I did not approach Konglong earlier and see with my own eyes the beautiful appearance of Konglong as mentioned by literary friends.
But I soon comforted myself by saying that fortunately I was not from Konglong, so I didn’t have to be sentimental about Konglong in my memory. Not only do I not have to be sentimental about the holes in my memory, I can also be happy about the holes in my eyes, because on the streets of Konglong I saw cotton craftsmen playing cotton and old ladies beating the drum and lotus flute;
I heard the most authentic Huangmei Opera singing; I tasted the most authentic Konglong famous food - Da Laohu cakes and Konglong Mahua... I not only felt the prosperity of Konglong yesterday, but also saw the prosperity of today The rapid development of Konglong.
Walking on the streets of Konglong and looking at its blend of old and new, I suddenly fell in love with this small town surrounded by water. How I wish I had a house in this small town with the front door facing the street and the back door facing the water. When you are happy, go for a stroll on the street and see the bustle and bustle outside; when you are frustrated, go sit by the water and feel the vastness and calmness of the water.
Who says it’s not a kind of life that allows you to move forward and retreat freely?
It’s time to leave after all. The literary friends in Kong Longji are all satisfied and calm. I feel a little nostalgic! Although I am just a passing visitor to Konglong after all, Konglong is really a cultural "dinosaur" to me, so huge and novel that I can't help but want to get closer again!
Kong Long, goodbye!
