Guanyin Lake

In the quiet and dense forest of Nankun Mountain, there is a mountain stream. There are three connected waterfalls on the stream. The lowest waterfall is formed behind a gauze of water. There is a white stone, which resembles the seated Guanyin, as if Guanyin was meditating on the clear water in the pool. There is a myth and legend about this scenic spot: It is said that a long time ago, the goddess Guanyin came to Nankun Mountain to "see all the beauty of Nankun Mountain". One day, when she came to a place called Youlu Cave, she saw the stream falling again and again, forming a three-level waterfall, and then flowing into a deep pool. Compared with the Lushan Waterfall, she had a different interest, so she sat behind the water gauze. Among the rocks, I put a cup and admire the water, and I won't go there for a long time. When she left, she used the clone technique and left behind an idol and a golden cup filled with water. This golden cup has great supernatural powers. When there is a lot of water in the stream, it can hold the excess. If there is less water in the stream, the waterfall will not be spectacular enough. The water stored in the golden cup will overflow again, making the waterfall remain as usual and the mountain stream flowing continuously. It is said that a greedy man once dived into a deep pool to steal the golden cup, but he could see it but couldn't get in; once he got in, he could see it but couldn't touch it, and once he touched it he couldn't get out. Because of greed, going in to steal the cup was a disaster, and no one dared to steal it anymore. This legend firstly explains the origin of the name "Guanyintan", and secondly, it warns people not to be greedy.

The mountain people were all anxious and complaining endlessly. After discussion, the elders of the village gathered men, women and children to burn incense and pray for rain at the foot of Shixia Mountain. It happened that the God of Patrol passed by on a cloud and saw this tragic situation in the world, so he returned to heaven to report the matter to the king of heaven. The king of heaven then sent the sea patrol god to the East China Sea to send orders to the dragon king to rescue the mountain people from danger. Soon, Dragon King Point sent a Sichuan Shuilong to carry out the order. So, the Sichuan Water Dragon leaped out of the sea, went straight to Shek Kip Mountain, and slammed into the flaming boulders. Suddenly, there was thunder and lightning, and dark clouds gathered. Then the sweet rain poured down. The Sichuan water dragon also turns into a waterfall and stays in the mountains forever, relieving the mountain people from suffering from drought. Since then, Shixia Mountain has been covered with lush trees and green bamboos. Later generations named this place "Chuanshuilong", and Shixia Mountain was also called "Chuanlongxia".
