What is the climate like in Greece?

Greece is located at the southern tip of Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe.

It borders Bulgaria, Macedonia and Albania in the north, the European part of Turkey in the northeast, the Ionian Sea in the southwest, the Aegean Sea in the east and the African continent across the Mediterranean Sea in the south. Greece has a total area of 131,957 square kilometers, of which 15% are islands, with more than 1,5 islands, with a total area of 25, square kilometers. The coastline is about 1521 kilometers long and the territorial sea is 6 nautical miles wide.

Climatic characteristics

The southern part of Greece and the islands belong to the Mediterranean climate, and the temperature changes little throughout the year, ranging from 6℃ to 13℃ in winter to 23℃ to 33℃ in summer, with long summers and strong sunshine.

the northern and inland areas have a continental climate, with warm and humid winters and dry and hot summers. Average temperature from north to south: 5 ~ 11℃ in January and 25 ~ 27℃ in July. The average annual precipitation in Greece is 4 ~ 1mm. The annual precipitation in the eastern region is about 4 ~ 7 mm, and the annual precipitation in the western region is about 9 ~ 12 mm.
