Introduction to Master Hongchuan
Master Hong Chuan (1907-1990) was the abbot of Pujak Zen Temple in Guangmingshan, Singapore. Originally from Jinjiang, Fujian Province, he wore a veil at an early age. Later he went to Nanyang and opened the Guangmingshan Pujak Zen Temple in Singapore. He has successively served as Vice President of the World Buddhist Sangha Association and Chairman of the Singapore Buddhist Federation. The Master's mastery of Feng Shui and Feng Shui is well known to Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. He passed away peacefully in 1990 at the age of eighty-four. The Master devoted his life to promoting Dharma, charity, and education. He also has frequent contacts with the Buddhist community in mainland China. He is also very concerned about the reconstruction of Buddhist temples in mainland China.
