How to judge the cold and warm front
Cold and warm fronts's contrast
First, the direction of progress is different.
When cold and warm air masses meet, they move in different directions. The cold front is that the cold air mass actively advances to the warm air mass, and the warm air mass is forced to climb. The direction of advance is the same as the cold air mass, but the warm front is just the opposite. Due to the strong influence of the warm air mass, the forward direction of the front is the same as that of the warm air mass.
Second, the symbols are different.
The cold front is a β triangle, and the arrow points in the direction of the cold air mass.
The warm front is a в semicircle, and the arrow points in the direction of the warm air mass.
Third, the slope ahead is different.
In the cold front, the cold air mass is strong, which pushes the front to move quickly, and the warm air mass on it rises sharply, but the slope of the front is large. In the warm front, the warm air mass climbs slowly above the cold air mass, which pushes the front to move slowly, so the slope of the front is small.
Fourth, the weather changes differently.
When a cold front crosses the border, there will often be windy, cloudy, rainy, snowy and other weather. After crossing the border, the cold air mass replaces the warm air mass, and the temperature drops and the air pressure rises. The weather turned fine; "One autumn rain and one cold", when the warm front crosses the border, there will often be continuous precipitation. After crossing the border, the position of cold air mass was replaced by warm air mass, the temperature rose, the air pressure dropped and the weather turned cloudy. "A spring rain is warm."
Fifth, the rain area is different.
Cold front precipitation is behind the front, and the precipitation area is relatively narrow.
The warm front precipitation is before the front, and the precipitation area is relatively wide.
Sixth, the precipitation characteristics are different.
The cold front moves quickly, with great intensity and short duration.
