Later he served as section chief of the Youth Section of the Political Department of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region, political commissar of the detachment, director of the political department of the military division, political commissar of the brigade of the North China Military Region, and political commissar of the 19th Corps Division. Participated in the battles of Pingjin, Taiyuan and Lanzhou.

In 1961, he was awarded the rank of major general. Former deputy commander of the Air Force, representative of the 10th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and representative of the 5th and 6th National People's Congress.
