The ancient town on the mountainside

Finally, it's time for us to say goodbye to the beautiful Yanqi Lake. A group of people reluctantly packed up their leisure mood, boarded go on road trip's car and drove back to Chengdu's home.

Just when everyone was sleepy, I suddenly saw a street sign "Wang Yu Ancient Town" outside the window, an ancient town I had never heard of. Looking up, at the end of the road, up dozens of steps, an ancient town suddenly appeared halfway up the mountain.

Stopping the car and climbing the stairs, we were surprised by a tiny town. The town is located in the deep mountains, and its scale is very small. It only takes ten minutes to walk from the beginning to the end, but we stayed in this primitive, ancient, simple and quiet town for a long time.

Wang Yu Ancient Town is located in the upper reaches of Zhougong, 35km south of Ya 'an City, Sichuan Province, adjacent to Wawushan Scenic Area. Because it is located on the ancient tea-horse road in Lin Qiong, it was an important post station in and out of Chengdu in ancient times, so it formed a town.

The ancient town was built at the end of Ming and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, and it was built by China's traditional geomantic customs, such as pillow mountain, surrounding water and face screen. Because the main building is located on the boulder on the mountainside, the boulder looks like a cat looking at the fish in the Zhougong River, so it is named "Wang Yu Town".

Due to the limitation of terrain, the ancient town is lined with long and narrow streets, and the moss-covered bluestone road extends in the distance in disorder, and the road surface has been polished into multi-tone by time. The ditches on both sides of Qingshiban Road and the clear gurgling water flowing down the mountain just prove that the water is as high as the mountain. People in ancient towns can live on water even if they live halfway up the mountain. On both sides of the street, there are slab-type green tile houses and diaojiao buildings. From the broken wall bricks, corrugated walls, carved windows and stone pillars, we can still feel the exquisiteness and luxury. Today's ancient town has long lost the excitement of the ancient tea-horse road station and the noise of the modern city. Most people go to the empty building, leaving only some old people and children to live a leisurely and peaceful life, making the town seem unusually quiet and serene. This may be the reason why people who have lived in the city for a long time will stop and linger.

The proprietress, the only small restaurant in the ancient town, still maintains a simple folk custom. The snacks she sells are genuine and childlike. The tortillas fried with fresh corn are fragrant and make us drool. We sat at the door of the store, enjoying the indoor photography scene provided by the proprietress, with enthusiastic dogs and lazy cats around our knees. This quaint and leisurely feeling fascinates us.

The ancient town of Wang Yu is the last stop of our trip, and it is also the perfect ending of our trip. With the tranquility and leisure of the ancient town, when we return to the bustling city, we can still recall the peace of mind brought by the beautiful and simple ancient town in the noise.
