Natural climate of Xiaowutai Mountain

Xiaowutai Mountain is a warm temperate continental monsoon mountain climate. The freezing period is long, the frost-free period is short, and the rainfall is heavy and concentrated in July. There are obvious changes in four seasons here. Every year in late May, the snow on Taifeng melts, the hay turns green in June, and spring begins. The spring in Xiaowutai Mountain is very short, and the temperature difference between day and night is very large. In summer, Xiaowutai Mountain is like a hanging garden under white clouds. Walking through it makes you feel relaxed and happy. The microclimate in mountainous areas often makes you hard to guard against. For a while, the sun is like fire, for a while, dark clouds avoid the sun, and for a while, thunderstorms pour down. In autumn, Xiaowutai Mountain is a colorful country, with red leaves flowing with the water and yellow grass smiling with the wind. The starry sky in September is the most beautiful, the Milky Way is hanging in the sky, and all the constellations are there. You can curl up in a warm down sleeping bag, find your own constellation, and let the chilly autumn wind blow your brow.

Vegetation is green broad-leaved forest in summer, with complex floristic composition and various plant species, reaching more than 670 species, with obvious vertical change: Artemisia meadow is above 2 100 meters on sunny slope; 2000 ~ 2 100 m is a subalpine shrub with birch as the main tree species; 1400 ~ 2000m is a coniferous mixed forest with Betula platyphylla, Populus cathayana, Larix principis-rupprechtii, Pinus tabulaeformis, Betula platyphylla and Betula platyphylla as main tree species; 1400 ~1200m is a secondary shrub grass, which is mainly composed of Hippophae rhamnoides, Corylus heterophylla and Spiraea. The crop area is below 1200m. Shady slopes can be divided into coniferous forest belts dominated by Larix principis-rupprechtii and Picea crassifolia and broad-leaved forest belts dominated by Betula platyphylla and Populus cathayensis, but the distribution height is different from that of sunny slopes.
