Baotong Temple is a temple full of humanities and history. Everything here has a strong sense of history. You can choose the purpose of going to Baotong Temple according to your actual situation. This is the entrance fee to Bao Thong Temple.

Tickets

10 yuan/person

In general, spending 10 yuan is a bit of a loss, and you have to pay another two yuan to go to the tower. It would be nice if $10 included everything, but $12 is a bit of a loss overall.

Temple introduction:

Baotong Temple is located at the southern foot of Hongshan Mountain in Wuchang, with beautiful scenery and a history of more than 1,600 years. It is the only royal temple in Wuhan. It is listed by the State Council as a "National Key Buddhist Temple in Han Dynasty", a key cultural relic protection unit in Hubei Province, and one of the "Four Jungles" of Buddhism in Wuhan.

The Hongshan Pagoda in the temple stands majestically on Hongshan Mountain, which was the highest point in Wuchang District at that time. In the era when urban architecture was not developing rapidly, the Yellow Crane Tower on Snake Mountain could be seen from the pagoda in the distance.

The scenery from tower to floor is excellent, which is called "never getting tired of looking at each other".

Although the monk guarding the tower told me that this is a Feng Shui layout, I think this is the brilliance of the planners. With this Hongshan Pagoda, both the plane space and the facade space of Baotong Temple are in line with the modern aesthetic category of combining points, lines and surfaces, and it also makes the small Baotong Temple appear delicate and stable.

With the help of the mountain, it was folded up skillfully, standing at the mountain gate and looking in. The Holy Monk Bridge blocks everyone's view, so that the Maitreya Buddha Hall behind is half hidden among the red walls and green willows. Looking at the gentle slopes and high and low steps, you can only see the Maitreya Hall.

At first glance, people think that there is only one Maitreya Buddha Hall in Baotong Temple. After worshiping the Maitreya Hall, the back door of the temple is on a steep slope. The Mahatma Hall is on this slope, making people feel the solemnity of the Buddha.

After entering the auditorium, there is another auditorium at the back. The famous Jade Buddha Temple is hidden in these several floors of buildings. The Jade Hall has no back door, and the axis of the Baotong Hall seems to end abruptly here. However, there is a breezy corridor to its left, but at the end of the corridor, there are stone steps to climb up the mountain. Standing on this step, the Patriarch's Temple, Luohan Hall, and Hongshan Pagoda are arranged on the hillside from far to near. The pines and cypresses, mountain breeze, and solemnity present a natural wild charm.
