Brief introduction of Xuanwei geology and geomorphology
Xuanwei City, located in the northeast of Yunnan Plateau, is a slope zone of transition from Yunnan Plateau to Guizhou Plateau. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The highest point in the territory is the main peak of Dongshan, with an altitude of 2,868 meters, and the lowest point is the Lalongcha River at the intersection of Qingshui River and Mudong River, with an altitude of 920 meters and a relative height difference of 1.948 meters. The mountain range crossing the city boundary belongs to Wumeng Mountain System, and it crosses the boundary in two branches. The west and north-central part of Wumeng Mountain belong to Zhongzhu Mountain System, which runs northeast-southwest.
The elevation of the ridge is generally 2300 ~ 2400 meters. Except for a few areas in Lishan where the relative height difference is relatively large, the peak line and top surface in most areas are relatively flat, which belongs to shallow-cut mountainous areas with small topographic slope (15 ~ 25 degrees) and small relative height difference (200 ~ 300m). This ridge is the watershed between the Yangtze River and the Pearl River.
