Those who have run away from home for more than 24 hours can report to the criminal police team where the missing person is registered or to the public security organ in the missing place. After accepting a case, the public security organ shall decide whether to file a case according to the reconnaissance situation.

Legal basis: Article 21 of the People's Police Law of the People's Republic of China, the people's police shall immediately rescue citizens whose personal and property safety is violated or who encounter other dangerous situations; Help should be given to citizens who ask for the settlement of disputes; Police cases against citizens should be investigated and handled in time.

The people's police should actively participate in emergency rescue and disaster relief and social welfare undertakings.
