Wutai Mountain in Shanxi enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad. How many secrets are hidden?
Wutai Mountain is called "Liang Qingshan" because of its high altitude and low temperature. It is never hot in summer and it is a rare summer resort. Wutai is divided into Dongtai, Xitai, Nantai, Beitai and Zhongtai. Because these five peaks stand tall and the peaks are gentle, they are called Wutai Mountain.
Wutai Mountain was originally a place of Taoism. Later, because Buddhist monks came here, they thought this place was very good and wanted to build a temple here. But there is no room for two temples in one mountain, so Taoism and Buddhism fought against each other under the auspices of the current emperor. Later, Wutai Mountain was regarded as a Buddhist holy land. It is conceivable that Buddhism won the battle.
And how did Buddhism win? At that time, Buddhism and Taoism fought by burning scriptures. Strangely, it was the same fire. The Taoist scriptures were burned to ashes, but the Buddhist scriptures were firmly preserved, and no matter how big the fire was, it was not burned. Buddhism thus occupied this holy land.
Since Wutai Mountain became the mountain of Buddhism, there have been an endless stream of people from various countries for thousands of years, including Buddhists from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and many other countries. Buddhists from all over the world have traveled thousands of miles to visit this mountain, which is naturally not just a gimmick.
So Wutai Mountain is the first of the four famous Buddhist mountains.
