Unexpectedly, a local bully took a fancy to the "feng shui land" in front of Tofu Lao's door, built a house there, and planted a large bamboo forest in front of the house.
In this way, as long as the wind blows, the bamboo leaves will fly, and the bamboo leaves will fly to the tofu man's tofu room, causing the tofu man to pick up endless bamboo leaves when grinding tofu. Every time he makes tofu, They were all so busy.
In this way, the tofu was often stuffed with bamboo leaves. Even some regular customers had their opinions, and the business became less and less day by day.
Tofu Man hated that bamboo forest and always wanted to cut it clean, but the bully was so powerful that he didn't dare, so he often sighed. When the son saw it, he asked why. Tofu Guy told the whole story.
The son said: "Isn't it just that bamboo forest? Just make it disappear."
The tofu man felt that his son didn't know the depth, so he quickly taught him: "Don't make mistakes, we will offend you." "I can't afford it."
The son said confidently: "Don't worry, I have my own way of 'Wenqi'." He bought a piece of big red paper, polished the ink, and then his son wrote a couplet and pasted it on the two pillars in front of the door:
Thousands of bamboos in front of the court
There are thousands of books in the house
The bully sent the guests out. When he looked up, he saw the couplet at the door of the tofu man. He was angry and annoyed. He thought to himself: Humph, a poor tofu man actually took advantage of my Now that things are showing off, I'll cut down all the bamboo forest to see where this couplet of yours comes from.
That night, the bully asked the servants to chop down all the bamboo forest. The Tofu Man and his son were very happy when they saw it. The son hurriedly grabbed the brush and added another word to the upper and lower couplets.
Early the next morning, the bully, stroking his beard, went to Tofu Man's door and saw the couplet that read:
A thousand bamboo branches were broken in front of the court
There are thousands of books in the house
The bully returned home angrily and shouted to the servant: "Go, go, quickly dig up all the roots of the chopped bamboo in front of the door! "The bully thought to himself: Tofu guy, Tofu guy, what's so great about your son being able to read and hyphenate? I'm going to tell you that this couplet has no basis and I want you to write it and tear it up yourself.
The servants soon dug out all the broken bamboo roots. The Tofu Man and his son laughed secretly when they saw it, and the son picked up the pen and added a word on each of the upper and lower couplets.
The bully didn't sleep a wink all night, so he ran to Tofu Man's door at dawn and saw the couplet that read:
Thousands of bamboos cut off in front of the court
There are thousands of books in the house
When the bully saw it, his eyes turned white with anger, his feet trembled, and he almost fell to the ground. From then on, Tofu Guy no longer had to be busy picking bamboo leaves when making tofu.
Later, it became a family tradition in the Dou Fu Lao family to farm, study and pass down family traditions.
Several generations later, a scholar in the family actually won the first prize in the imperial examination. This is the only number one scholar in the history of Liandu District, Lishui City. His name is Cai Zhonglong.
