I just decided to go to Suzhou today on November 2nd. My little girl has an urgent question. Please help me. Thank you.
So many questions!
As for transportation, there is no direct bus from the airport to Tongli. If you need to transfer, there are two options:
1. Directly from Shanghai to Tongli:
A. First go from the airport to Shanghai Stadium. There is a direct bus to Tongli. Time: 8:00/9:00/10:00/11:00. Journey: about 2 hours;
B. From From the airport to Hutai Road, there is a direct bus to Tongli, time: 12:30/13:40, journey: about 2 hours.
2. Arrive in Suzhou first and then transfer to the bus to Tongli. There are buses from Pudong Airport (about 80 yuan) and Hongqiao Airport (about 50 yuan) directly to Suzhou. After arriving in Suzhou, take a direct bus from Suzhou North Bus Station to Tongli. There are many buses and they leave every 50 minutes.
PS, if you don’t mind the trouble, you can take the route I often take, which will save you money! Take 941 at Hongqiao Airport to the train station, and take Airport Line 5 at Pudong Airport to the train station. There are many trains from Shanghai to Suzhou. After arriving at Suzhou Railway Station, it is very close to the North Bus Station.
As for travel, you only have about two and a half days in Suzhou. If you go to Tongli, it is best to arrange enough time. It is recommended to arrange to go to Tongli on the morning of the 3rd. The remaining time can be spent in Suzhou. Take a stroll around Suzhou city, such as eating Suzhou snacks. The specialty snacks in Suzhou are relatively sweet. I don’t like them very much, so I don’t know much about them. I won’t mislead you here:)
Then, I think there are three places you should visit when visiting Suzhou: Humble Administrator’s Garden , Huqiu, and Shantang Street, because these three places represent Suzhou’s gardens, history, and water town style respectively. The tour route can be arranged like this: spend one day in the Humble Administrator's Garden in the morning, then go to Tiger Hill after the tour, and then arrange to visit Shantang Street in the evening (because you went to Tongli, you don't actually need to go to Shantang Street, but It is recommended because the night view of Shantang Street is outstanding).
About Su Embroidery:
Zhenhu is indeed the origin and concentration center of Su Embroidery. It is located on the outskirts of Suzhou. It takes nearly 2 hours by bus (no exaggeration at all. I went passed). There is an embroidery street there, all of which are hand-embroidered, so don’t worry that it’s not hand-embroidered. However, there are good and bad hand-embroidered goods. If you go to the embroidery street and look at one or two stores, you will naturally be able to distinguish the good from the bad. Not much to say here.
However, I didn’t see any quilt covers for sale there. Most of them sell some craft embroidery products (table decorations, wall paintings, screens, etc.). If you want to buy quilt covers, it is probably difficult to find them there. ah. So I don’t recommend going there. There are also many shops specializing in silk embroidery on Guanqian Street. You can go there and have a look.
The bus route to Zhenhu is as follows (get off at Xiupin Street):
South Barracks Parking Lot (Shi Road) - Aihe Bridge - Shi Road South - Zhujiazhuang New Village - Xiyuan East - Yan'an Street - Fiberglass Road - North of Academy of Arts and Crafts - Guanjing New Village - Huangjiazhuang - Free Village - Baiyang Bay - Changqing - Baofeng - Zhujiazhuang (Xuguan) - Xingxian Village - Yang District 1 of Shanhuayuan - District 4 of Yangshan Garden - District 5 of Yangshan Garden - East District of Huashan Garden - Middle District of Huashan Garden - West District of Huashan Garden - Tong'an Town Government - Central Road - Goodtech Electronics - Caojiayuan - Zhuzhuang Village - Yinjiabang - Qianhengjing Village - Jinshi - Jiandu Village - Houshangzhang - Yuxiang - Dongzhu Hotel - Dongzhu - Xizhu - Wan'an Mountain - Shujialong - Chemical Plant - Wanghu Bridge - Shawen Bridge - Embroidery Street - Maqiao - Second Knitting Factory - Zhenhu Bus Station
About the weather:
Suzhou is now cool in the morning and evening, and the daytime temperature is okay. You can wear autumn clothes, just bring a slightly thicker coat with you.
