This was announced by the State Environmental Protection Administration. In the National Annual Report on Urban Environmental Governance and Comprehensive Improvement, the comprehensive environmental improvement of 509 cities in China was quantitatively assessed. Yantai, Guilin, Haikou, Zhuhai, Beihai, Shantou, Rizhao, Xiamen, Shenzhen and Karamay have the lowest average annual concentration and the best quality.

Yantai is located in the middle of Shandong Peninsula, with a pleasant climate, no severe cold in winter and no heat in summer. Weihai in the east, Qingdao in the southwest, Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea in the north, and Liaodong Peninsula and Dalian across the sea, forming a maritime gateway to the capital Beijing.
