Linfen Xiangfen Dongguan Wenfeng Tower Introduction?
Dongguan Wenfeng Pagoda was built in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty. At present, it was donated by Ling Yue Yunxi of Xiangling County in Xianfeng period of Qing Dynasty. Xianfeng was rebuilt in nine years, and it was built during Tongzhi period. Originally in the southeast corner of the city, north 100 meters is the Dacheng Hall of the County Confucian Temple, which is the seat of the county school. At present, the tower is 30 meters high, with octagonal nine-level eaves, made of blue bricks, with bluestone strips as the foundation.
The construction of Wenfeng Tower in Dongguan has experienced twists and turns in history. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Yang Zuokun, the then magistrate of a county, built Wenfeng Pagoda here because the city was "low in the southeast, so it was appropriate to build Wenfeng". But more than forty years later, it was "destroyed into ruins" because it was too close to the city wall, and it became a place for travelers to rest, so some people blamed it on improper site selection. Later, the county government found another Feng Shui gentleman, who said that to "close the gate", it must be built to the east of Fenhe River, so Xie, the magistrate of the eleventh year of Qing Emperor Kangxi, said, "The writing style is not good, and he is also responsible for guarding the soil", so he rebuilt it to the east of Fenhe River. However, this tower built in the east of the river suffered from scale disease: "As always, the corner of the city is low, the lock can't stand, and the wind gathers." In the 19th year of Kangxi, Xia County magistrate asked the people about their sufferings, and they all said, "A great man is nothing like a tower." So the tower was built on the original site of Wanli Tower. This is where the tower is now.
