There is no direct contradiction.
Buddhism says that "what is reported must be reported", that is to say, people who used to accumulate virtue and do good deeds will now have a very auspicious living environment. People who used to do evil will not live in an auspicious environment now. The so-called "reported" refers to the environment where people live, which is equivalent to Feng Shui in folk customs. But Buddhism believes that feng shui is good and bad, which is the cause and effect of good and evil. Only by abstaining from evil and accumulating virtue can we really improve.
