Xiantong Temple Xiantong Temple is the second temple in Chinese history. It was built only later than the White Horse Temple in Luoyang. Emperor Ming of the Han Dynasty invited Indian monks from the Western Regions to photograph Mo Teng and Zhu Falan and built the White Horse Temple in Luoyang, Kyoto. In the same year, She Moteng and Zhu Falan came to Wutai Mountain, recognized the holy land with their Dharma eyes, and immediately took a fancy to the feng shui of Wutai Mountain. They reported that Emperor Ming of the Han Dynasty broke ground to build a temple here, opening the first page of the history of Wutai Buddhist Kingdom. Xiantong Temple is the largest and oldest among the temples in Mount Wutai, and is commonly known as the "ancestral temple". There are more than 400 large and small houses, most of which are buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. It has also been a royal temple in the past dynasties.
