Why do many flying ants fly in before it rains?

This is the giant water ant (reproductive long-winged termite). Termites like humidity and are only suitable for mating and reproduction under the condition of high humidity before rain.

From April to June every year, winged breeding ants breed in groups, generally flying 5- 10 times, mostly flying out of the nest in the evening before and after sultry or heavy rain. After a short flight, peel off your wings, pair them, and then bury them in a suitable place to build a new nest. Egg laying begins 6-7 days after nesting, and the egg period is about 40 days. If ants develop into worker ants after more than 4 months, they will develop into winged ants after 7-8 months.

After mating, ants begin to lay eggs in about a week. Mature queens can lay tens of thousands of eggs every day and night, and the process of hatching eggs into young ants takes about 20 days. It takes about one month from the spawning of off-wing breeding ants to the birth of one-year-old ants. After molting several times, young ants can become adult workers and soldiers in about a month.

It takes about 70 years from a mature termite colony mating with a leaf-eating ant to the first generation of winged adults in the colony, and then it can reproduce independently again.

This reproduction and evolution of the termite kingdom continued the prosperity and survival of its race for 50 to 80 years, almost 365 days a year.
