Why are temples always together with nunneries?
It should be said the other way around. There are often nunneries next to monasteries. Because there are many monasteries and few nunneries. Therefore, there may not necessarily be nunneries next to temples. Nun is a common name and Buddhist name is bhikshuni. They are female monks who practice Buddhism. This is related to the precepts established by the Buddha. That is, the eight methods of respect. The Eight Respects Precepts are also known as the Eight Respects, the Eight Masters, the Eight Invisible Dharma, the Eight Invisible Dharma, etc., referred to as the Eight Respects, because they are all things that require nuns to respect and respect monks, so later generations called it "Eight Respects".
1. A hundred-year-old nun must pay homage to a bhikkhu who has just been ordained;
2. Do not scold a bhikkhu or slander a bhikkhu;
3. A bhikkhu nun must not lift a bhikkhu's fault. A bhikkhu can be promoted to a bhikshuni;
4. A bhikshuni has full ordination and must receive it from two groups of monks (first practice the Dharma among nuns, and then seek ordination from a bhikkhu);
5. Bhikkhunis who commit the crime of mutilating the monks should repent in the second sect;
6. They must seek advice from bhikkhus every half month;
7. Do not live with bhikkhus You should not stay far away from the bhikkhu's residence during the summer vacation (for the convenience of asking for advice);
8. When the retreat is complete, you should ask the bhikkhu to do the three kinds of self-indulgence for the bhikkhu: seeing, hearing, and doubting sins. (Freedom to commit crimes).
