Historical allusions to Donggaozhuang
Donggaozhuang village was built in the Yuan Dynasty. Legend has it that several years ago, there were three Gao brothers in the village: the eldest was named Gao Chai (see note), the second was named Gao Peng, and the third was Gao Lan. Their family was not wealthy. The eldest brother, Gao Chai, as the eldest brother, has been teaching in other places all year round in order to support the family. It was not until the end of the year that he brought home the money he had saved through frugality and hard work over the past year. This year, when Gao Chai returned home, he encountered robbers on the boat. He was killed and his body was thrown into the sea. Legend has it that Gao Chai once had an ex-wife, but she left no children. After remarrying, she gave birth to a daughter and a son. The girl was called "Gao Chai's daughter".
When Gao Chainv was 18 years old, her biological mother died of illness and starvation, leaving her with a 6-year-old little brother. At this time, the second uncle Gao Peng wanted to seize the opportunity to annex the property of Gao Chai's daughter's family. He deliberately made things difficult and said: "The Gao family's tomb does not allow a lonely ghost (referring to Gao Chai's step-in-law) to be buried, and our family is no exception, so as not to break the Gao family's feng shui." !” He then said, “It’s okay if you want to go to the cemetery, but Gao Chai Nu must first find her father’s body.” Gao Chai Nu begged and cried until she died, but her second uncle Gao Peng always ignored her.
Gaochai Nu asked someone to temporarily bury her mother elsewhere, and at the same time vowed: As long as she still has breath, she will bring her father's body home! She led her young brother, covered in stars and moonlight, to beg all the way. On the way, her brother was eaten by a wolf again. She finally came to the East China Sea, took out the begging gourd, and scooped up the food one after another. She continued scooping for three days and three nights, but the water did not decrease at all. Gao Chai Nu felt hungry in her belly and felt dizzy. Looking at the vast sea, boundless and connected to the sky and the earth, she thought she was powerless and wanted to commit suicide by throwing herself into the sea. So she covered her head with her lapel and was about to jump into the sea, but suddenly she felt a big hand grabbing her. When she looked back, she saw a white-haired old lady. The old lady calmed her down and told her: "Your filial piety is touching. Today, I will lend you a small earthen jar and a small wooden spoon. The water scooped out with the wooden spoon must be put into the earthen jar. Don't spill it outside..." Gao Chainu obeyed and scooped up a spoonful, and the sea water immediately reduced by half. Then she scooped up another spoonful, and there was not much sea water left. The Dragon King of the East China Sea came in person, asked what had happened, and then returned to the Dragon Palace to find Gao Chai's body. The body was covered with Ganoderma lucidum grass. Not only was it not decayed, but it looked like he was sleeping peacefully. Gao Chainu poured the water from the earthen pot back into the sea, and the sea water returned to its original state.
Gaochainu returned the wooden spoon and earthen pot to the old lady. The old lady also helped Gao Chai Nu hire a vehicle, and also gave her some money and funeral expenses for her parents. Gao Chainv was both sad and happy, with tears streaming down her face. She didn't know how to thank her. In the blink of an eye, the benefactor disappeared, and Gao Chai Nu could only kowtow to the sky. Later I heard that the old lady was originally the "Ksitigarbha Mother".
The day Gao Chainv went home to bury her parents happened to be the Qingming Festival. Because Gao Chai Nu was sad, exhausted, overworked, and distraught, she died shortly after her parents were buried. Gao Chai Nu's filial piety was well known and well-known, and it also moved the emperor. The emperor gave Gao Chai Nu a royal burial and was named a "fairy aunt". In front of her tomb, stone figures, stone horses, stone monkeys, stone sheep, etc. were also installed in order to Famous forever.
