Is a three-cylinder engine easy to break down?

Compared with the general four-cylinder engine, the three-cylinder engine is not easy to break down, but it will have more jitter.

Now many car companies are actively developing three-cylinder engines, which is one of the future trends.

Advantages of three-cylinder engine:

1. Lighter. The weight of a three-cylinder engine is lighter than that of a common four-cylinder engine, because the three-cylinder engine lacks a cylinder, a connecting rod, a piston, a valve, an intake pipe and an exhaust manifold, so the overall weight is lighter.

2. The torque of three-cylinder engine broke out earlier. The torque burst of three-cylinder turbocharged engine is earlier than that of four-cylinder turbocharged engine.

3. A three-cylinder engine can save fuel. Because there is one less cylinder and piston and one less valve device, the friction is reduced, so the fuel consumption is also reduced. A three-cylinder engine without a cylinder and a set of nozzles will also reduce fuel consumption.

Disadvantages of three-cylinder engine:

1. The jitter is obvious. The vibration of three-cylinder engine is more obvious because of its inherent structural defects. However, engineers try to reduce the jitter of the three-cylinder engine by balancing the shaft and the foot pad of the hydraulic press.

2. The stamina of high-speed area is insufficient. Compared with the four-cylinder engine, the three-cylinder engine lacks a cylinder and an injector, and the fuel and air intake per unit time in the high-speed area are much lower than those in the four-cylinder engine, so the running stamina of the three-cylinder engine in the high-speed area is insufficient.
