What is a hurricane? thank you

Hurricanes are tropical cyclones that occur in the Atlantic Ocean of Central America. This cyclone has the same nature as typhoons in the western Pacific, the Philippines and the South China Sea in the northern hemisphere.

In the western Atlantic, a large number of warm and humid air and ocean currents bring the energy accumulated along the way here during the long journey in summer, making it the warmest and wettest area in the western Atlantic. The water temperature in this sea area is as high as 26℃ ~ 27℃, and the temperature is above 28℃. At the same time, due to the exchange between the ocean and the atmosphere, a large amount of water vapor is brought into the air, so the deepest wet air layer is also gathered here. This tropical air mass with high temperature and humidity is in a very unstable state. Under any disturbance, fluctuation or cold air invading people, weak cyclone circulation will be generated, and hot and humid air will rise rapidly through convection. As long as the rising air is hotter and lighter than the surrounding air, it will rise violently. Hot and humid air rises, water vapor condenses and latent heat of evaporation is released. The release of this energy continuously supplies cyclone activities, and the cyclone deepens, which leads to a wider range of inhalation, which makes a large number of new hot and humid air flow in and produces new condensation. As a result of this repeated action, the embryonic form of hurricane-tropical cyclone was gradually formed. The results of long-term observation show that only about 10% of all tropical cyclones can develop into hurricanes. Once the newborn cyclone deepens, the air pressure in the center of the cyclone drops rapidly, forming a narrow circle near the central area of 12 wind, starting to move westward and continuing to deepen, thus becoming a formidable hurricane.

At present, people call tropical cyclones with wind speed exceeding 8 (wind speed exceeding 24 m/s) in this area tropical storms; When the wind speed continues to increase more than 33 m/s (the wind reaches 12), it is called a hurricane.
