1. Introduction
Shenzhen, also known as Pengcheng, is a city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province. It is located in the south of Guangdong Province, on the east coast of the Pearl River Delta, and Hong Kong is separated by water, with Daya Bay and Dapeng Bay to the east, the Pearl River Estuary and Lingding Ocean to the west, Hong Kong across the Shenzhen River to the south, and Dongguan and Huizhou to the north.
2. Climate
Shenzhen is located in the south-central coastal area of Guangdong Province, east and north of the Pearl River estuary. It is located at a low latitude and has a subtropical oceanic climate. Due to the strong influence of the monsoon, the southeasterly wind prevails in summer, with monsoon low pressure and tropical cyclones visiting from time to time, with high temperatures and rainy weather. The northeast monsoon prevails in the rest of the season, with relatively dry weather and mild climate, with an annual average temperature of 22.4°C and a maximum temperature of 38.7°C (1980 July 10, 1957), the lowest temperature was 0.2℃ (February 11, 1957). Shenzhen City is surrounded by mountains and sea. There are more than 160 large and small rivers, which belong to the Dongjiang River, Bay and Pearl River Estuary systems, but the rainwater collection area and flow are not large. There are five rivers with a drainage area of more than 100 square kilometers, including Shenzhen River, Maozhou River, Longgang River, Guanlan River and Pingshan River. Shenzhen currently has 24 reservoirs, including 9 medium-sized reservoirs with a total storage capacity of 525 million cubic meters. The Shenzhen Reservoir, located in the eastern part of the city, has a total storage capacity of more than 40 million cubic meters and is the main source of domestic water for residents of Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The total amount of groundwater resources is 650 million cubic meters per year, and the annual exploitable resource volume is 100 million cubic meters. Shenzhen’s total cultivated land resources are 2,446.7 hectares, fruit planting area is 9,946.7 hectares, and forestry land is 79,700 hectares. It is rich in agricultural and sideline products such as Longgang "Three Yellow Chickens", Nantou lychees, Nanshan peaches, Shiyan sand pears, golden turtle oranges and Longhua square persimmons. Shajing oysters are another specialty of Shenzhen. National protected wild animals that inhabit and breed include tiger frogs, pythons, macaques, giant civets, leopards and pangolins; 5 species of amphibians with great economic value, 23 species of reptiles, 30 species of birds, and mammals 33 species.
