The design team used the city lines outlined by the winding Huangpu River and the possibilities brought by the asymmetric layout to integrate the urban texture of Shanghai into the design. The vertical space planning comes from the "hazy space" inside and outside China people's life, which is a common element in some Shikumen buildings in Shanghai.
