London weather in January

It’s not particularly cold in London in January, but it’s very windy.

You can bring a down jacket. I have lived in London for three years. In winter, I basically wear a T-shirt underneath and a down jacket outside! Many people dress like this because the indoors in London are very warm like those in northern China. So when I walk outside, I wear a down jacket to keep me warm. When I go indoors, I take off my down jacket and I feel like a pretty girl or boy again.

But this also depends on your dressing style. However, it is recommended not to bring those particularly thick sweaters. Because it will be extremely hot when you enter the room. It doesn’t matter if you take it off or put it on.

Also, the jacket must have a hood, because it always rains lightly in London, basically if you don’t bring an umbrella. So when the time comes, a set of hats will solve the problem. A waterproof and windproof jacket is the best choice for keeping you warm and cold-proof.

Because it is windy, please prepare hats and scarves! Especially scarves! Otherwise it would be too cold. Wear gloves, too. But they are not that kind of skin or particularly thick. A thin scarf will suffice.

I happened to be in France in January a few years ago. It didn't snow in Paris at that time, so it was pretty much the same as London. But there will also be cloudy and rainy weather. So it’s better to bring a waterproof and windproof jacket. Also, French people really don’t like speaking English to you. . . . So make more preparations before going and ask fewer questions to strangers on the road to avoid running into snags.
