The powertrain control module (PCM) will then determine the basic fuel injection quantity of the injector based on the difference between the intake manifold pressure and the atmospheric pressure (which is linearly related to the engine load), thus helping the engine to achieve the best air-fuel ratio under different loads. If the electronic control unit (ECU) finds that the signal difference between the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and the turbine/supercharger inlet pressure sensor (downstream of the throttle valve) exceeds the calibration value (usually 10.35KPa) within a set time period (2.5 seconds), this fault code will appear.
