The historical background of Huitong Village
From the Tongzhi to Guangxu years of the Qing Dynasty, Huitong Village was rebuilt under a unified plan with investment from wealthy overseas clansmen at that time. The main buildings include 2 watchtowers, 3 ancestral halls and more than 40 residential buildings.
The location of Huitong Village, a combination of Chinese and Western elements, is secluded, and the spatial guidance of first suppressing and then rising coincides with the traditional Chinese poetic pursuit. The orientation is east to west, the direction is high in the east and low in the west, and the environment is surrounded by mountains and water, which is in line with the traditional Chinese village Feng Shui concept. The layout of the village has absorbed the advanced concepts of modern western village and town planning, with a strict layout. The most rare thing is that despite the ups and downs of China's modern political economy for 170 years, Huitong Village still retains the unique style of the ancient village and contains rich and precious architectural historical relics and humanistic historical information.
