Whose tomb is Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum?
Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is located in Zhongshan Scenic Area at the southern foot of Zijinshan Mountain in Xuanwu District, Nanjing. It is the mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the forerunner of the great democratic revolution in modern China, and its affiliated memorial building. The mausoleum covers an area of more than 80,000 square meters. 1926 started in spring and 1929 was completed in summer.
The front of Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum faces Pingchuan, followed by Qingzhang, Linggu Temple in the east and Ming Mausoleum in the west. The whole building complex is built according to the mountain trend and gradually rises from south to north along the central axis. The main buildings are Aibo Square, Mausoleum, Mausoleum Gate, Stone Steps, Monument Pavilion, Sacrificial Hall and Mausoleum, which are arranged on a central axis, reflecting the traditional architectural style of China. Seen from the air, it looks like a leaning green building. The architecture of Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum combines the essence of China's ancient and western architecture, which is solemn, simple and unique.
Mausoleum architecture of Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum
The tomb passage of Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, from Boai Square to Lingmen, is 440 meters long and 36 meters wide. Divided into three roads, the middle road is12m wide, and the left and right roads are 4.6m wide, with two rows of juniper trees. Between the sides of the pyramid-shaped mound, five pairs of rectangular flower ponds are symmetrically arranged from south to north.
The sixth platform of Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum continues to climb to the seventh platform, on which a pair of bronze stone lions are arranged. This is made by Jiang Wenzi, the third generation descendant of the famous Fujian sculpture shop Jiang Yuancheng. The art of sculpture is very wonderful. In the mouths of two stone lions, there is a ball that can rotate freely in their mouths and will not fall out.
