Book list | What books have I read in the past two months? (Part I)

it's been two months since the last update.

in two months, I have read more than a dozen books, and it will be too long (too tired) to finish them at once, so I divided them into two parts. Have a good time reading!

Comfort of Philosophy

★★★★☆

Publisher: Shanghai Translation Publishing House

This is an introductory book on philosophy. The author Alain de Botton selected six representative philosophers, Socrates, Epicurus, Seneca, Montaigne, Schopenhauer and Nietzsche, to introduce their main philosophical ideas, with simple language and good readability. The six people respectively correspond to the solace of being out of touch with the world, the solace of being short of money, the solace of being frustrated, the solace of being defective, the solace of being sad and the solace of being in trouble. I prefer the chapters of being short of money, being frustrated and suffering (how miserable I am), especially appreciating Epicurus' happy list. Epicurus believes that a happy life has the following factors, namely friendship, freedom and thought. De Botton summed it up as: a hut, avoiding superiors, favors, intrigues, thoughts, and Beligni's Madonna. As an introduction to philosophy, this book may not be professional enough, but it can bring comfort and strength to people and arouse readers' interest in philosophical thoughts. Philosophy tells people how to look at the world and how to spend their lives. I think we need its guidance more than people at any time in history-philosophy should be an essential medicine for modern people.

The Evolution of Love

★★★★★

Publisher: Shanghai Translation Publishing House

This is a critical novel by Alain de Botton. The so-called critical novel is actually De Botton's original way of writing. Simply put, the author's comments are added from time to time while the plot of the novel is going on, so the reading process is like a barrage. Besides the story, there are comments and opinions given by De Botton. If the reader happens to think of the same place with the author, it will be very interesting for an instant. It is said that this Evolution of Love is a sequel to the author's first novel, Love Notes, which is the first time that the author tried to write a novel with bootleg goods, and then it became famous. But I don't like Love Notes very much, first of all, because the story is too simple, while personal comments are too long and often over-extended. Secondly, from this autobiographical Love Note, we can see that the British genius De Botton was a man who thought too much when he was young, and this kind of man also made me unbearable, for example, because my lover and myself had different tastes in shoes, I was sad from it. The Evolution of Love is much more mature. Taking the different stages of an intimate relationship as clues, the author arranges several chapters, such as romance, besieged city, parenthood, extramarital affairs and romance, which almost records and exposes all kinds of happiness and misery that love and marriage will face. I even want to draw up a shocking recommendation, "Shocked! Never get married before reading this book! " . Not only is the structure and story mature, but the author's views are much more sophisticated than the previous one, and there are fewer moans and sorrows, most of which come from real life.

Li Bai, a Taoist poet and his pain

★★★★

Press: Beijing Publishing House

This is a pamphlet widely recognized in the research field of Li Bai, which was written in the 193s. Taking Li Bai's traveling life as a clue, the author analyzes the poet's life state, political ideal and life pain in different stages. Mr. Li Changzhi really loves Shi Xian badly. He has repeatedly expressed his feelings and confessed to his idols. He even wrote: "People who don't know how to love Li Taibai should die quickly, because his life has already withered." How cute. The reason why he is a Taoist comes from the author's belief that Li Bai is in line with the "halal" pursued by Taoism. I like this word very much. The so-called clarity means no turbidity, and the so-called truth means no pretense and no affectation. The poet's unrestrained and unrestrained character and natural and frank style of writing are all contained in it. What impressed me deeply was the analysis of Li Bai's strong vitality, which was really rare, and compared with the end of his reburied castle peak, it was very emotional. This book comes from the "Little Books for Everyone" series. As the name implies, this series is a collection of pamphlets published by many university experts. I also bought another copy of Fu Lei's, and will continue to collect it. I am very grateful to the friends who recommended this little book to me.

How to quarrel correctly

★★★☆

Publisher: Houlangshu China Overseas Chinese Publishing House

This is a practical psychology book. Do you believe in lovers who don't quarrel? I used to believe. I remember when I was a child, my parents always quarreled, and I silently vowed to form a family without quarreling, or not to form a family. The tables have turned. Today is the fifth anniversary of Uncle Di and me. Not long ago, we started to fight for three days, a little quarrel and five days, and both of us accumulated a lot of negative emotions. Plus, I found that I couldn't express my needs correctly even when I was quarreling (yes, one of the great advantages of intimate relationship is that you can explore yourself deeply), so I bought this book to educate myself. The truth in the book is very clear (though not new): first, identify emotions, then discover the needs behind emotions, and then analyze the sources of needs. If it comes from inappropriate thinking logic or family of origin trauma, then try to heal yourself, so as to gradually establish correct thinking logic and finally form a good interaction with each other. I think the most beneficial point of this book is to tell readers through a large number of examples that quarreling is not necessarily a bad thing, but in many cases it is a good thing to build a relationship. The final conclusion in the book is to encourage couples to quarrel boldly. Well, quarreling does have its merits, but in this process, how to get worse is better. In a short time, there is still a feeling that "I still can't live a good life after listening to a lot of truth". After all, self-treatment and self-correction are a long-term process, so you can't hurry. To sum up, this book is very good, except that it has the common fault of this kind of books-using positive arguments and negative arguments to repeatedly talk about the same point of view to convince readers, which makes it seem a bit verbose, so it can be kept at home.

Scholar's Opinion: Zidong Time

★★★

Publisher: Beijing Times Chinese Bookstore

This is a collection of comments by teacher Xu Zidong. The fifth season of "The Round Table School" started, but the lovely teacher Xu Zidong was absent from recording, on the grounds that the school made a prohibition order for unknown reasons, which is consistent with the reason mentioned in the preface that it is impossible to continue to publish a commentary collection. Listening to Mr. Xu with a half-joking and half-serious smile, telling my point of view that just pokes me is the fun of watching the program, but reading the anthology is not so intuitive. The same words fall on paper, as if they lose the charm of the teacher, without that kindness and intelligence, which is not special enough. Teacher Xu's concerns in this book are very grounded, such as sky-high housing prices, online celebrity's economy, comedy movies and so on. Therefore, it is very easy to read and very basic. Those who miss Teacher Xu may be able to read it to comfort their lovesickness.

Madame Bovary

★★★★☆

Publisher: Shanghai Literature and Art Publishing House

This is Flaubert's masterpiece, a novel set in the 19th century French countryside. The plot is not complicated, which can be summarized in one sentence. It is nothing more than the process of a farm girl who is eager for romance and is dissatisfied with the status quo after marrying a small town doctor. It is written like a thousand times, and it is worthy of being a famous writer. I read Zhou Kexi's translation of Penguin Classic, and I feel quite comfortable on the whole. Among them, almost all the parts that make me clap my legs are related to psychological revelation. The author has described Mrs. Bovary's inner psychological trend and the external modality displayed by it, which makes it hard to imagine that it was written by a middle-aged uncle. Flaubert's writing habits sound very similar to those of Murakami, and both of them emphasize the importance of revision. It is rumored that every word in Madame Bovary has been carefully chosen. The author's standard is that there should not be any repetitive or jumbled words in one page. Simply put, one word can't be used twice. Flaubert's mother once thought that her son would be driven crazy if he couldn't choose satisfactory words. I think it is a pity that no matter how exquisite the translation is, it can't be conveyed to this extent. In the second half of the year, I want to read the French literature system in the nineteenth century.

Xiao Gu Chats Painting: Renaissance

★★

Publisher: Tiehulu, Beijing United Publishing Company

An art toilet reading. In fact, many books about art are much better than this kind of indecent reading, but at certain moments, it is acceptable to read this kind of book, such as having a very tired day and not wanting to chew serious books, or feeling that reading good books in this state is a kind of blasphemy and waste, but you want to read something interesting and aesthetic. Just then, WeChat Reading pushed this book that you have seen many times on the bestseller shelf. Except for this kind of situation, don't waste other good time reading this book. Later, once on the train, I read a book called "Little Gu Chat Myth", which is not even worthy of your garbage time. Don't read it.

to be continued.
