The Historical Development of Linfeng Village

The historical materials of Fengzhai can be traced back to the Southern and Northern Dynasties or even earlier. Li Daoyuan (about 466 ~ 527), a famous geographer in ancient China and a Northern Wei Dynasty, recorded in Notes on Shuijing that Baishui Jing (Baofeng) flows from north to south, and Fengxi flows into Yongjiang River from the northeast of Xiangshan to Shuitian Village. The "Shuitian Village" here is today's Linfeng Village, which means the stockade near Fengxi. Maybe it's because of convenient transportation and geomantic treasures. Zhang's family has lived here for a long time. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1573), a plague broke out in the Central Plains and the population dropped sharply. A Zhu family in Hongdong County, Shanxi Province immigrated here to make a living as a farmer for Zhang's family. At the same time, they also woven reed mats with Zhang Jiaxue, and sold reed mats and other reed woven products through land transportation and Ruhe transportation. Thanks to cleverness and diligence, after more than 200 years, Zhujiajian became a big family in the village. The Zhang family rebelled against the Lord and made a living by farming for Zhujiajian. Therefore, "Zhang Jiageng" was renamed as "Zhuwa Village". During Daoguang and Xianfeng years in Qing Dynasty, Zhu Huaizong, a branch of the Zhu family with insight, and his three brothers, Zhu Zigui, Zhu Zhennan and Zhu Zifeng, made a fortune by salt trade and reached their peak. It is said that when the three brothers split up, they all divided the ingots with baskets.

After their success, Zhu's three brothers were respected by outsiders for their kindness and bravery, but they were very worried about their huge wealth. In the last years of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty (186 1), in the face of numerous troubled times, the three Zhu brothers discussed tearing down the earthen village and building a stone village. The wall of the stockade is the structure of external stone and internal soil. The 60-cm-long stones on the outer wall are all taken from the red granite in Wei Zi, while the inner wall is made from local materials, all dug from the soil protecting the Zhaizi River. In order to make the village wall strong, each red stone strip is separated by a stone, and the middle space should be filled with 3 ~ 4 red stone strips, and then the soil should be taken and compacted. In the village is Zhuwa Village, covering an area of 70,000 square meters. It is said that an old man surnamed Zhu covered his eyes with black cloth and carried a basket full of white ash to return the line in order to get justice when paying off the stockade fence, thus "walking" out of the winding stockade fence that people see today.

In 1930s and 1940s, this village played a role in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. After liberation, in the national trend of demolishing stockade walls, stockade walls need to be reserved for flood control because they coincide with the flood siege. There are more than 600 households in the village, and there are nearly 400 well-preserved ancient houses in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Experts believe that this is the first well-preserved ancient village discovered in the Central Plains, and it is also very rare in China. In 200 1 year, the linfeng village development office was established in jiaxian county to carry out protective restoration of linfeng village according to the principle of "repairing the old as before".
