Where does the tap water in Shanghai come from?
Tap water in Shanghai comes from many sources, including the Yangtze River, the upper reaches of Huangpu River, Qingcaosha Reservoir, Chen Xing Reservoir, Dongfeng Xisha Reservoir and Jinze Reservoir. Among them, about 70% tap water comes from the Yangtze River, and 30% tap water comes from the upper reaches of Huangpu River. Qingcaosha Reservoir, Chen Xing Reservoir and Dongfeng Xisha Reservoir take water from the Yangtze River, while Jinze Reservoir takes water from the upper reaches of Huangpu River. The water from these sources is treated by tap water and transported to the homes of Shanghai residents through pipelines.
In the process of dealing with the salt tide, Chen Hang Reservoir and other water sources are more susceptible to the influence of the salt tide, and have accumulated rich experience in resisting the salt tide. For example, before the salt tide invades, the reservoir will be pre-stored to increase resistance. In addition, Shanghai has taken other measures, such as rational allocation of water resources and strengthening water quality monitoring, to ensure the water quality safety of tap water.
