Why is the weather so unpredictable lately?
Hello. The recent erratic weather is the result of the intersection of cold and warm temperatures, abundant water vapor, upper-altitude troughs, and surface cyclones.
According to Fu Jiaolan, an expert from the Central Meteorological Observatory, the large-scale heavy precipitation in the south and rain and snow in the north are the result of the combined influence of warm and humid air currents and cold air.
Take rain in the south as an example. The warm and moist airflow from the Indochina Peninsula travels all the way north, bringing warm spring to most of the south, as well as abundant water vapor and unstable energy. The southward cold air and the warm and humid air flow meet and collide in the central and eastern parts of my country, and bring heavy precipitation weather under the combined action of atmospheric unstable energy and other factors. Along with the heavy rain, there are also strong convective weather such as short-term heavy precipitation, strong winds, hail, thunder and lightning.
However, Fu Jiaolan said that although this process was large-scale and intense, it was not considered extreme weather in this season. This is a "combination punch" of rainfall where warm and cold air meet, and water vapor, high-altitude troughs, surface Jianghuai cyclones and other systems work closely together.
Due to the large-scale rainy weather process in the south and the rainy and snowy weather process in the north, the ability to "carry goods" is very strong, including rain and snow, strong winds, cooling, hail, etc. In addition, most parts of the country were in a state of relatively high temperatures in the early stage, and the "cliff-like" cooling brought about by this process will give people the feeling of cold winter again.
