What is the stratosphere?
Above the troposphere, up to an altitude of 50 kilometers, is the middle layer of the atmosphere where air convection occurs horizontally - the stratosphere. There is very little moisture in this layer, the weather is always clear, and the airflow is smooth. Therefore, when a jet plane crosses the troposphere and enters the stratosphere, no matter what the weather is below, the sky is still clear and the cabin is so stable that people cannot feel that the plane is moving. The air movement in the stratosphere is weaker than that in the troposphere, so it appears calmer on the surface. In fact, the atmosphere there is still constantly moving and changing, and can affect weather phenomena in the troposphere.
Above the stratosphere, the earth's atmosphere can be divided into several layers, but these layers have little direct relationship with us humans.
These layers of atmosphere surrounding the earth create a comfortable and safe environment for us humans on the earth.
The dense air close to the ground, containing moisture and mixed with a lot of dust, has the effect of absorbing heat and keeping warm. They can not only intercept part of the heat radiated by the sun, so that the ground will not be extremely hot when exposed to sunlight; they can also prevent the heat from the ground from escaping outward, so that it will not be very cold when there is no sunlight. The moon and Mercury lack this condition, so it can be hot to more than 200 degrees Celsius, and cold to more than minus 100 degrees Celsius.
In the upper troposphere, as the altitude increases, the air gradually becomes thinner and contains less moisture and dust. The effect of absorbing heat and keeping warm is correspondingly weakened. In addition, the heat obtained from the ground at high altitudes Much less than what you get at low places, and other factors, there is this change that the higher you are above the ground the lower the temperature is. The temperature in the mountains is always lower than that in the nearby plains. The average temperature in July in Guling, a famous summer resort in Mount Lu, is 22.6°C, while the temperature in the Jiujiang Basin below the mountain is as high as 29.6°C. The tops of many high mountains in western my country are so cold that snow covers them all year round. However, this phenomenon of temperature decreasing with increasing altitude is interrupted after the altitude increases and enters the stratosphere. In the stratosphere, the temperature is consistent up and down, so the stratosphere was called the "stratosphere" in the past.
