Pruning method of Lagerstroemia indica
1, stem water grass pruning
Because of its changeable leaf shape and rich leaf color, the stem fully displays its charming charm in the aquatic plant tank, and it is the most widely used aquatic plant. Japanese pearls with yellow-green round leaves, pagodas with needle-like green fluff, red butterflies with rose-like pink petals, cranberries with Xia Hong-like slender leaves.
Because of the needs of landscaping, sometimes it will show a dense feeling or a unique attitude of aquatic plants, so when pruning, you can prune it in the following two ways.
Lush aquatic plants often show the vitality of life and exude enthusiasm. Like a green pearl grass, as the name suggests, like a pearl shining in the water, it is blooming with green light.
When planting, according to the whole piece of planting needed for landscaping, after the growth is stable, the water plants can be directly trimmed out of the landscape line, and each water plant will grow side buds, so that there can be a whole dense water plant forest.
Note that when pruning, the second pruning is higher than the first pruning. For example, the first pruning should be carried out at a height of about 5 cm above the bed, and the second pruning should be carried out at a height of 8- 10 cm, because the old stems will gradually lignify and the new buds cannot grow.
In landscaping, it is necessary to show the graceful posture of aquatic plants and exude charming charm, such as red butterflies, pagodas and big red leaves. Usually pull up the whole plant, take the required length, cut off the excess part of the rhizome, leave three stems and remove the leaves on the stems. When planting in the bottom bed, two stem nodes are completely planted in the bottom sand, and one stem node is not planted.
Two sections of stems planted in bottom sand, the first section is to prevent the roots from growing and rotting due to careless pinching of aquatic plants during planting, and the second section is generally to grow new roots before rotting. The third stem node will also grow roots on the bottom sand, making the aquatic plants more stable.
2. Pruning of overgrown aquatic plants
Clusters of aquatic plants have different leaf shapes and colors, which can show tropical customs and create a rainforest atmosphere. It is also a widely used aquatic plant, such as crown grass, long-leaved nine-crown grass, net grass and so on. The tufted aquatic plants here generally refer to tufted aquatic plants such as crown grass, and only old leaves, rotten leaves and leaves attached with algae need to be cut off from the petiole of the whole leaf pruning. As shown in the figure:
When pruning, it is not appropriate to partially prune the leaves, because after the top photosynthetic point is pruned, the leaves will not be able to carry out photosynthesis normally, which is unfavorable to the growth of aquatic plants. When pruning, don't do too much pruning to avoid affecting the normal growth of aquatic plants.
3. Pruning of bulbous aquatic plants
Bulb-shaped aquatic plants, such as lotus root, purple water lily, red taro and so on, have rich color changes in their leaves, which can show their own characteristics and aesthetic feeling. When pruning, it is roughly the same as that of tufted aquatic plants.
When bulbous aquatic plants are planted, floating leaves sometimes grow. If you want to keep the growth pattern of leaves in water, you can trim the newly-grown floating leaves from the place near the root (whenever the petiole grows, the floating leaves near the water surface will be trimmed), and the newly-grown petiole will be shortened to maintain a beautiful posture.
4. Pruning of aquatic plants with stems
Generally, small clustered aquatic plants are mostly propagated by walking stems, such as pointed leaf crown, small water lily, twisted orchid and so on. When pruning a single aquatic plant, the pruning method is like common clustered aquatic plants, and the old leaves and yellow leaves are cut off.
When the walking stems are too dense, the pruning method is to cut the water plants to be pruned directly from the walking stems, pull them up and discard them.
5. Pruning of other aquatic plants
(1) antlers moss
Antler moss is like an elf in the water, covering the surface of aquatic plants with a layer of crystal clear pearls, which is dazzling and charming, making people unable to divert their attention. Antlers moss is a rootless aquatic plant, which needs to be fixed with plastic net or cotton thread when planting. When it reaches a certain thickness, it will float to the water like a cloud if it is not trimmed (because antlers moss will produce a lot of oxygen bubbles during photosynthesis, which will increase the buoyancy of aquatic plants, and the aquatic plants at the bottom will turn yellow or even rot because they can't shine. When the buoyancy is too strong, aquatic plants will float to the water. )。
When trimming, it is recommended to trim by thinning, such as trimming hair and layering. The water grass shears are trimmed at an inclined angle, only part of the water grass is trimmed, and the top growth point is not completely trimmed and damaged. This pruning has little damage to antler moss, and the aquatic plants recover and grow faster.
(2) dwarf pearls
The whole dwarf pearl is like a green velvet carpet, and the emerald luster always makes people shine, as if wandering on the green grassland, breathing the fragrance of grass.
The whole dwarf pearl is not easy to maintain. When it grows too densely, the grass in the lower layer will turn yellow and rot because it can't be illuminated. Therefore, pruning the dwarf pearl is to trim the leaves directly from the top when it grows too dense, and then new leaves will grow after pruning.
This pruning method varies according to different environmental conditions, but the longest pruning time is 2 ~ 3 times. After many pruning, new leaves can't grow or become smaller, so they need to be replanted.
(3) Cow felt
Cow felt has delicate leaves, as soft as a gentle breeze, and elegant hair. The whole tube of cow felt also has the prairie scenery of wind blowing grass and low cattle and sheep, revealing a touch of sadness and desolation.
The growth height of cow felt is affected by growth conditions, and its growth situation will be different. You can prune it after planting it. When trimming, the whole piece should be trimmed directly from the top, and the trimming height is about 0.5- 1 cm from the bottom. Pay attention to the consistency and neatness of height when trimming.
(4) Moss
Moss is one of the favorite aquatic plants of the general public, often attached to rock walls or stones and driftwood. Its climbing characteristics can enhance the natural customs, with obvious layering and heavy green, which are its charm.
There is no special skill in planting and pruning, and it can be trimmed directly according to the required layer thickness. However, Mu Si is characterized by more frequent pruning, more growing points, denser and more vigorous growth, and more distinct layering.
