Introduce the legend of heroes
Introduction
The Legend of Heroes (Japanese: Heroes 伝说, えいゆうでんせつ, EiyuuDensetsu. English: the Legend of Heroes) series is a role-playing game by the Japanese company Falcom. It is called English Translation or ED for short. At Falcom, which is good at developing ARPGs, the Legend of Heroes series is characterized by command-based RPGs and continues to this day. Together with the Ys series, it is the two flagship works of Falcom today.
It was formerly a branch series of Falcom's Dragon Slayer series. The first two games were released as the sixth game of the Dragon Slayer series. Before the release of the third game in 1994, the creator of the Dragon Slayer series, Koya After Yoshio's resignation, the Dragon Slayer series was disbanded and became its own series independently.
[Edit this paragraph] Introduction to the Dragon Slayer series
Dragon Slayer is Falcom’s famous early RPG brand. This series can be said to be the future Legend of Heroes series (directly separated from the series.) and The predecessor of the Ys series (referring to part of the Dragon Slayer design.), the first game in the series is hailed as the originator of ARPG in Japan, and the second game, Dragon Slayer II-Xanadu, is the highest-selling work in the history of Japanese computer games. Since producer Yoshio Kiya resigned from Falcom and the series' last installment, Xanadu II-the Last of Dragon Slayer, was released in 1995, the series came to an end. Since then, each of their works has developed independently from the Dragon Slayer series.

[Edit this paragraph] Features of the series
The first two games in the series are more focused on the system than the Dragon Slayer series Due to the influence of the game, the focus was entirely on the system. III established the principle of focusing on scripts. By VI, the game began to work hard on the system, and the gameplay was much higher than previous works.
World view settings 2 to 3 are taken as one story, from the first series in 1989 to the latest in 2007, there are only ***3 in total.
The way to move in towns, labyrinths and other places in Generation I is to switch to the big map, but from the underground world of II, there is no longer a switch, and the style of connecting roads with the same proportions as towns, labyrinths, etc. continues. to date.
[Edit this paragraph] Series classification
The first Isailuhasa chapter
By Dragon Slayer VI-Heroes Den and Dragon Slayer-Heroes 伝说II is composed of two works, taking the world of Iseiruhasa as the stage, and II expands the world underground. Since producer Zeno Kiya left Falcom in 1994, subsequent works could no longer be named after Dragon Slayer, so they became independent from the Dragon Slayer series. The first-generation remastered version of Heroes Den Shuo released in 1997 canceled the Dragon Slayer name and only retained it in the game LOGO.

< p> The second part of the Kakabu TrilogyIt consists of three works: Hero's Den III-White Witch, Hero's Den IV-Crimson Shizuku, Hero's Den V-Umi no Kange. The stage is set in three worlds separated by a huge crack in the earth called Kakabu. III is in Tirasil, IV is in El Felting, and V is in Vetluna. Among them, IV made a lot of modifications to the original settings and plot when it was re-released in 2000. It can be regarded as two completely different games. For this reason, two completely different IVs, the old and the new, appeared.

The third part
The third part in the series is currently in progress. The name of this part has not yet been announced, but some people are based on the The naming rules for the first two chapters suggest that the name of the third chapter should be the Samria (ゼムリア) chapter. Different from the first two articles, the third article subdivides a work into small series of works. According to an interview with the producer of Hero Den Story - Trails in the Sky SC before its release, Trails in the Sky was originally planned to be one work, but new ideas came up during production and it was divided into two parts.
Trails in the Sky series
It consists of the first part of the Hero Den Story - Trails in the Sky FC (it was originally named Hero Den Story VI - Trails in the Sky when it was first released.), the second part of Hero Den Story - Sora no Kiseki SC and the spin-off Hero Den Story - Sora No Kiseki the 3rd work form a complete Hero Den Story VI. The story takes place in Liber, a small country on the continent of Samria.

Hero's Den - Sora's Trail SC (Windows, PSP)
The Legend of Heroes - Sora no Kiseki the 3rd (Windows, PSP)
The Legend of Heroes VII (series?)
Falcom is currently During development, some players have speculated that Legend of Heroes VII will unfold in the Empire based on the large number of plots related to the Erebonia Empire in Heroes of the Legend - Sora no Kiseki the 3rd. (Note that this is just speculation, and the possibility of launching in other countries cannot be ruled out before Falcom releases official information.)
[Edit this paragraph] Story characteristics and composition
Most works They are all structured in chapters. The old version of Legend of Heroes IV canceled the chapter structure. Although it was restored in the new version, it was changed to a chapter structure. In Heroes Den Story - Sora no Kiseki the 3rd, it is a story structure.
Series I-V explained the plot of the sequel as hidden foreshadowing in the work, and the connection can only be seen in the subsequent completed works. However, in the remastered version of The Legend of Heroes IV in 2000, the foreshadowing began to become superficial. And continues to the latest installment in the series.
There is no plot connection between the chapters, but the plot settings have some similarities - the disaster caused by the disappearing ancient high-tech civilization.
Some characters, items and even characters from other Falcom games have made cameos in other worlds of the series in various ways (novel, playing cards, names, etc.). For example, in the old Legend of Heroes IV, there are characters from the Ys series. The names of characters such as Tohru and Ares, the male protagonist of the Brandish series, appear. In The Legend of Heroes - Trails in the Sky SC, the avatars of the playing card characters come from the main characters of The Legend of Heroes I-IV.
[Edit this paragraph] Encountering the enemy
The Isailuhasa chapter is an encounter-style encounter with the enemy. I can see the enemy through props, and II can directly see the enemy.
The Kakabu Trilogy is a fixed-point encounter with random enemies, and the combination of enemies at the same location is fixed.
Trails in the Sky is an encounter-style encounter with the enemy like the Iseiruhasa chapter, but the design of the direction of encountering the enemy is added.
[Edit this paragraph] Magic system
The magic systems in each world are different, and there is no universal magic. The MP consumption system is the same as most RPGs, with the exception of Legend of Heroes II and Legend of Heroes III. Among them, Legend of Heroes II is a magic bar, which is restored over time during normal free movement. It cannot be restored except by using props during combat. There is no MP design in The Legend of Heroes III, and magic can be used infinitely, but there is an action value (vp) in The Legend of Heroes III. Any action in the battle consumes the vp value. The initial value is 100. After the value returns to zero, you need to stop and rest or use magic to restore 100 square meters. You can continue to act, and the enemy's actions are also restricted by this rule.
[Edit this paragraph] Special attack system
Introduced since Hero Denshuo V-Hai no Kange, it is a special ordinary physical attack with lethality comparable to magic. , while omitting the time for magic reading.
Originally designed to consume MP, the MP consumption setting was canceled in the Legend of Heroes IV remastered version, but the number of uses was limited. It is finally independent in VI (it neither consumes MP nor has a limit on the number of times it can be used. ), the factor limiting the special move is changed to the CP value in the CP slot (maximum 200). A new auxiliary type of special move has been added and a new super special move has been added: it can be activated when the CP value reaches 100, and when the CP value reaches 200, it will have 1.5 times the usual effect (attack type), or other effects (auxiliary type) will be added. Super special moves can be issued regardless of the order of actions (they take effect after either the enemy or the enemy completes a current action). Most of the special moves in each game are indistinguishable, and only some of the special moves of V-generation protagonist Ford and VI's Joshua have a certain degree of similarity.
[Edit this paragraph] Combat system
Each game in the series is very different, but there is one thing in common - it does not use a turn-based system, but determines the order of actions based on speed.
The combat system of Isailuhasa is similar to the Dragon Quest series, but the details of the design are quite different.
Kakabu Trilogy starts the battle directly on the map screen, but the specific battle system is still immature and changeable. The Legend of Heroes III adopts a combat system in which players control strategy and computer controls tactics (that is, players can control the choice of combat methods, but cannot control which skills the computer uses). The biggest feature of The Legend of Heroes III is that there are no adverse consequences after losing the battle, and you can continue fighting immediately (there is another setting in III that the status is full after the battle, regardless of victory or defeat).
In The Legend of Heroes V, players can directly control the specific tactics of the characters, but when the characters are too close to monsters, they will automatically use physical attacks, and when they are far away, they will actively use magic attacks. Moreover, when characters use magic, they rarely automatically repeat the last action (nirvana is possible), and often release magic on their own initiative, because there is an invisible cooling time after each action of the character in the game, which is invisible to the player. Therefore, it is difficult to grasp the accurate time of manual control, and the operation is very cumbersome. In addition, the battle setting where characters automatically move towards monsters is also a headache. The highlight of The Legend of Heroes V is the ability to use dual magic. A specific character can combine a more powerful magic with a specific magic.
The remastered version of The Legend of Heroes IV has made great progress in the combat system. Although the setting of characters automatically moving towards monsters still exists, players can stop this behavior as time goes by, and the cooling time after the action is (defined as "hard time" in The Legend of Heroes VI) is visible, so the character's battle is completely controllable, and the setting for the character to automatically release magic is also canceled in this game.
The Legend of Heroes VI: Trails in the Sky continues the combat system of the remastered version of The Legend of Heroes IV and further improves it. The first is to cancel the automatic movement setting of characters and change the real-time combat mode to a traditional turn system.
Then there is the AT (Action Time) combat system in which the enemy and the enemy are represented in the order of actions. The character's actions are determined by "Hard and Straight". As time goes by, "Hard and Straight" gradually returns to zero (but it is invisible, and the improvements in the remastered version IV cannot be continued). The enemy or friendly character who reaches zero first gains the right to act. However, the major improvement compared to the remastered version IV is that the character's speed can speed up the "hard" recovery speed, and the character's speed can be further increased based on circuits and skills (the character's speed in the remastered version IV is only related to movement speed).
Next is the change in the escape system settings during battle. In the Kakabu Trilogy, players can escape on almost any occasion (including plot battles), but the key plot battle in The Legend of Heroes VI It cannot be avoided. If you fail, it will usually be a game over (unless the plot sets otherwise).
Finally, a cooking system is introduced for the first time in this game. You can use offensive cooking to attack enemies, and the effect is quite obvious.
[Edit this paragraph] The maximum level of the character
The maximum level of both Isailu Hasa games is level 99, but usually only around level 35-45 can be used to clear the game.
The highest levels of Kakabu Trilogy are different, III is level 30, and the remastered version is increased to level 60. The old IV is divided into weapon level and magic level, each is level 50, and the new IV is Level 255, V is level 50.
Due to its own particularity, the initial level and the highest level of Trails in the Sky are different in each work. The highest level of FC is 49, and the initial level of SC is in the range of 35-40 depending on whether the player inherits the save file from the previous game. Floating within, the highest level is 99, the 3rd initial level is 90, and the highest level is 150.
[Edit this paragraph] Book collection
Book collection has been introduced since III. As the plot develops, after collecting a complete set of novels, you can exchange them for valuable props that cannot be obtained in the main story. Except for III, the valuable props are the most powerful weapons in the game. Since many books can be obtained during a short period of time when the storyline develops to a certain extent, it is extremely difficult to collect a complete set of novels. Among them, the collection of old IVs is completed through missions, but even if the collection is complete, there is no benefit. Since the series of Trails in the Sky, additional books such as Liebel Communication Journals have been added, and the collection has no purpose. Although the 3rd edition of Hero Den Says - Trails in the Sky is There are book settings, but you only need to investigate the bookcase when the story develops to a certain level to view it. There is no need to collect it but you can view it at any time. After getting them all, there will be rewards in the game, and each character will be interested in a specific book "Physical Transformation". Theory" made an interesting comment.
[Edit this paragraph] Fishing system
"Kiss in the Sky FC" has fishing content for the first time, but it can only be fished a limited number of times, and it cannot be fished again in the future. There may be many people The meaning is still not finished. In "Trails in the Sky SC", fishing has become a complete fishing system. Throughout the Kingdom of Libel, you can see some rippling waters. This is where fish live: fishing spots. Various fishing rods and baits are available in the game, and you can use them to catch different types of fish at these fishing spots. In Chapters 1 to 5 and 8, you can fish at any time while performing tasks in Libel, unlike FC where you can only play it once. Fishing is not required for the main quest, you can complete the level without catching a single fish. But the rewards for fishing are definitely huge. Every fish you catch will spit out items, including quite precious jewelry, medicines, radiant chips, etc., and some fish themselves can also be sold for high prices! One small regret is that the fish caught cannot be used as a variety of ingredients like FC, and can only be used as bait for larger fish, or sold. However, many fish will spit out fish ingredients and various Warcraft ingredients.
[Edit this paragraph] Gold exchange items
The design of gold exchange items has been introduced since III. After defeating the World of Warcraft, players will get not money but various gold exchange items, which can be exchanged in stores and other places. It can only be used after receiving money. There used to be a special store in V that only accepted gold exchange items. Since VI, there are 7 types of gold exchange items in the game, and they exist as a part of the magic (circuit) in the synthesis game.
[Edit this paragraph] Appearance of characters from the Legend of Heroes series in other game works
Vantage Master and Vantage Master V2 (Dark Elves Series): Heroes of the Legend III - White Witch Jario and Chrissy appear as elf masters.
Vantage Master Portable: A popular character from The Legend of Heroes - Trails in the Sky appears as a hidden spirit master.
Revival There will be special rewards if Jerry and Chris are used as character names.

An animated version based on the first episode of the Legend of Heroes series released in 1989, a full 2-episode OVA work released in 1992, in the form of VHS (video tape) and LD On sale. Since there are only two episodes that cannot fully show the story of the original work, the animated version only intercepts the first chapter of the game, that is, the prince's journey. The story completely revolves around the restoration of the country in the first chapter. The animated version goes particularly far in terms of original plot. The character setting and storyline development are very different from the game. Except for part of the world view and inherent names that follow the game setting, the other parts are completely different works. (You can refer to the huge difference between the two versions of The Legend of Heroes IV.) Since the story only includes the first chapter of the game, Sonia was promoted to the heroine in the animated version, replacing the original position of Princess Tina.
