The design concept of the National Centre for the Performing Arts is "the theater in the city, the city in the theater".

The National Grand Theatre is located in the west of Tiananmen Square, the west of the Great Hall of the People and the south of Chang 'an Avenue in the center of Beijing. It consists of the main building of the National Grand Theatre, the underwater promenade, the underground parking lot, the artificial lake and the green spaces on the north and south sides.

The National Grand Theatre is a combination of tradition and modernity, romance and reality, with novel and avant-garde modeling and unique conception.
