Why is the obeisance called "Jinlan sworn brotherhood"?
Anyone who has read martial arts novels should have seen this term. But most people don’t know what Jinlan is and how to marry Jinlan.
What is Jinlan? This saying comes from "Shishuo Xinyu·Xianyuan" "The monkey meets Ji and Ruan, and they are as close as a golden orchid." This saying probably comes from: "Yi Xici", "Two people are of the same mind, and their sharpness can break the metal; "Words of the same mind are as stinky as orchids." What does it mean? Friends have a deep friendship. Later, according to these allusions, the friends fall in love with each other and then become brothers or sisters. They are called Jie Jinlan (Qiruo Jinlan). According to the previous rules, after sworn knots with Jinlan, they had to exchange music sticks, called Jinlan Pu or Lanpu. Therefore, there is also a saying called "exchanging sticks", which also means that two people bow to each other and tie the knot with Jinlan.
According to custom, when making sworn vows, each person uses a stack of red paper to write each person's name, birthday, time, place of origin and the names of their parents, ancestors and great-grandfathers on a "Golden Orchid Spectrum" based on the number of people, and then puts it on the sky and the earth. According to the age of the tablets, incense is burned and the oaths are read together. For example, it is often seen in martial arts novels such as "Huang Tian is above, today so-and-so and so-and-so become brothers with different surnames. They do not want to be born in the same year, the same month and the same day, but they want to die in the same year, the same month and the same day."
