Extended data:
1. Climate differences between subtropical desert and tropical desert
The temperature is low in cool season, and the climate throughout the year is greater than that in tropical desert. The reason is that the temperature in midsummer is similar to that in tropical desert, but in cool season, due to the higher latitude, less solar radiation is obtained, and polar continental air masses invade. There will be whirlwind rain in the cool season.
In the cool season, it is often affected by extratropical cyclones. In August (February in the southern hemisphere), tropical ocean air mass invaded and there was a small amount of convective rain. The subtropical grassland and desert climate are mainly distributed in the western mainland and inland areas with latitude of 25 ~ 35. Their basic characteristics are similar to the tropical desert climate, which is dry all year round and hot in summer, but the temperature in winter is lower than that in tropical desert climate because of its high latitude.
Second, distribution.
The tropical desert climate is mainly distributed on the north and south sides of the savanna, mainly including the Sahara Desert in Africa and kalahari desert, the Arabian Desert in West Asia, the Western Australian Desert in Oceania, the California Desert in North America and the Atacama Desert in South America.
