The Historical Evolution of Zhangxi Town

Zhang Xi, formerly known as Jinyang (Jinyang, Xuanxian County, Liang Shi), used to be a lake beach. In the Qing Dynasty, a man named Zhang saw this "land of feng shui" and set up camp here to do business, hence the name. In ancient times, Zhangxi was the traffic artery of Chizhou, Raozhou and Jiujiang. There was a post of acting supervisor in Song Dynasty. In Qing Dynasty, there were four official roads in Liu Dong and Zhide, among which Dongchi (flowing eastward through Chang 'an, Lanqiao, Tangtian and Guichi) and Chi Jing (from Jingdezhen to Chizhou) all passed through Zhangxi. Zhang Xi runs through the east and west, flows into Jinsheng Lake, and is connected with the Yangtze River. There used to be a wharf in Zhang Jiatan, which was the intersection of land and water transportation. Mountain products and Pihua in mountainous areas, silk and parallel imports from Xiajiang were transported to various places. During the Republic of China, there were cooperatives in Jiangxi, "June 1st" in Qingyang (six counties and one city in Anqing), and there were cooperatives in Weizhou and local communities, which were responsible for contacting local businesses.
