Guangdong Travel Notes: My Yunfu Travel Guide
The eight-day trip to Yunfu, Guangdong has ended. This "My Yunfu Travel Guide" mainly summarizes the scenic spots, food, and accommodation in Yunfu city for your reference.
Yunfu Keywords
Guangdong prefecture-level city, a small town in northwest Guangdong, adjacent to Guangxi, surrounded by mountains, a forest city.
It is an "insulator" against the epidemic, has zero infection with COVID-19, has a slow pace of life, low housing prices, and plenty of delicious food.
The hometown of the Sixth Patriarch is full of parks and is a "stone capital".
Travel time
Yunfu, Guangdong is a mountainous city with lush vegetation and good air quality. You can stay lazily for a few days, soak in hot springs and climb mountains. It is not suitable to rush. It is more suitable for vacation and relaxation.
Transportation
Yunfu is 177 nautical miles away from Hong Kong and 138 kilometers away from Guangzhou. There are expressways in the territory and the transportation is very convenient.
Yunfu Bus Station has direct buses to major cities in Guangdong several times a day.
It takes 2-3 hours to take the high-speed train from Yunfu to Shenzhen. In addition, Macau and Zhuhai are also within easy reach.
Recommended attractions
[Guoen Temple]
Yunfu is the birthplace of Huineng, the sixth ancestor of Zen Buddhism, and the place where he passed away.
Guoen Temple, the ancestral home of the Lingnan Zen sect where the Sixth Patriarch is located, has a history of 1,300 years. As precious as this ancient temple are the seven relics found under the Pagoda of Repaying Enemy, which can be called "Buddhist" Soul treasure". Unfortunately, Guoen Temple was not open due to the epidemic, so I was unable to make the trip. The picture was taken at Yunfu Museum.
[Yunfu Panlong Cave]
A cave with a history of more than 170 million years, has extremely high archaeological research value. It was developed as early as 1985. The off-season ticket for the scenic spot is 35 yuan, including explanation services.
The tourable part of Panlong Cave is 528 meters long. It is named because the overall terrain resembles a giant dragon rising into the sky. And because the cave contains the only wonder in China and only three in the world: the gemstone flower, it is praised by the World Cave Association as one of the "three major stone flower caves in the world".
In addition, there are many stones in Panlong Cave that naturally resemble Bodhisattvas.
[Yunfu Nanshan Forest Park]
It is the most famous comprehensive park in Yunfu that integrates outdoor fitness, parent-child entertainment, and leisure vacation. It is also a "Feng Shui" "Treasure Land", located behind the Yunfu City Government Building, with an excellent location and free admission.
[Yunfu Panlong Tianhu Park]
It is the most "accessible" park in Yunfu city. It is located in the city center, next to Yunfu Passenger Terminal. From a distance, it looks like a giant "bonsai" in this city.
Nearly 4/5 of the total area of 180,000 square meters of the park is lake water, and the remaining 1/5 is divided up by 25,000 square meters of squares and 15,000 square meters of green space and tourist trails. Although the area is small, it is a very thoughtful scenery.
[Yunfu Botanical Garden]
It is a botanical garden in the true sense of "zero distance from the city", with Yunfu Daily just across the wall.
It is not a "garden" in the traditional sense, but a carefully decorated mountain.
The plants in the park are divided into regions and landscapes into a system, which is very suitable for walking, fitness and leisure.
The planned area of Yunfu Botanical Garden is 643 acres. As of the day I checked in, it was still under construction.
[Yunfu People’s Square]
It is located on the bank of Nanshan River, next to the Health Theme Park, and opposite the Yunfu Municipal Government and Nanshan Forest Park.
People’s Square has necessary supporting facilities in the city, children’s play area, and elderly activity center. It is the main place for fitness and leisure for Yunfu citizens.
[Small Square of Four Halls]
Located diagonally opposite Yunfu People’s Square, Yunfu City’s cultural centers, museums, libraries, and archives are all concentrated in this area, covering an area of 40,000 square meters. The small squares on the left and right are like "quadruplets", with the same color and consistent design style.
The square also has an outdoor movie screening venue and one of the most iconic stone sculptures in Yunfu City: the Stone Pumpkin.
Food
[Zhenyun Hekou Rice Roll]
A time-honored rice roll brand.
Yunfu is the birthplace of rice rolls. Since the Tang Dynasty, Yunfu people have been eating rice rolls for breakfast. In Yunfu, the most famous rice roll is Hekou rice roll.

[Liang Lao Milk Dessert Expert”]
A traditional Cantonese dessert chain store selling typical Shunde sugar water.
Recommended: Double Skin Milk.
[Gaocun Tofu]
Yunfu's "local specialty", it looks like a baby's little face, and contains more water than other tofu I have eaten. It doesn't feel like eating tofu, but like eating smooth stuffed pancakes.
You can order this dish in every big hotel in Yunfu City, and the snack bar named after Gaocun Tofu seems to be. This is the only one.
[Gaofeng Bean Sauce Wontons]
A local friend in Yunfu highly recommended this wonton store to me. The soup is very special, with a delicious taste, but it doesn't taste like chicken essence. It has a very real mellow texture and a very light texture. Yunfu people say that there is no secret technology in this restaurant's wontons, it just relies on one ingredient. Fresh.
It was just a small shop at first, but it was opened to several branches by the neighbors who kept coming back.
Recommended: Wonton. Zhen'an Liuyi Soup]
A time-honored snack in Yunfu
The store is small, with only a few tables and two small windows selling food. Chicken feet are sold on the left and chicken feet on the right. Beautiful soup.
Recommendation: Healthy soup, pickled bamboo shoots and snails, chicken feet, rice dumplings
[Aunt Feng’s five-spice beef offal]
Located in Yunfu Jinshan. Next to the market, there are many food stalls nearby.
The beef offal from this restaurant is delicious, slightly salty, and affordable.
Recommended: Spiced beef offal.
p>[Liquan Herbal Tea]
When you come to Guangdong, you must drink herbal tea. It can relieve heat, remove greasiness, and eliminate moisture.
This herbal tea shop looks familiar. , I seem to have seen it on the streets of Guangzhou, and it is said that the boss is from Yunfu.
Judging from the information printed on the back of the package, the secret recipe of this herbal tea contains "intangible cultural heritage" techniques.
Recommended: herbal tea, Guiling paste.
[Mong Kok Ting Seaweed Roll]
A fast food chain restaurant with a lively and lively decoration style, targeting young people as its main target customer group.
Recommended: Seaweed rolls, milk tea.
[Jordan Road]
Probably the largest milk tea chain store in Yunfu City.
Recommendation: Everything is good. Real ingredients, great taste.
[Tea Ceremony Miles]
A Yunfu beverage shop that I personally like very much.
The decoration is elegant and clean, the seats are neat and comfortable, the tea is fragrant and the ingredients are sufficient.
Recommended: Longan tea.
Accommodation
I live in the only loft apartment in Yunfu currently (2020): Nanyang Yayuan. Located opposite the Yunfu Bus Station, it is one of the few hotels in the city that has a view of Panlong Lake from its windows.
I have lived here for more than a week, and many of the scenery overlooking Yunfu that I shared before were taken from this balcony.
Postscript
Blue sky, white clouds, green trees, villages, creeks and roads... In the summer of Yunfu, people live a warm and peaceful life. A trip to Yunfu will make you happy. It's like watching a Hayao Miyazaki movie.
Even if Yunfu is not a popular tourist city, I hope that my travel notes can help you understand this small town that is different from most cities in Guangdong, the unique culture in the small town, and the scenery of "other people's homes".
