How old is Kaiping City?
Kaiping City has a history of more than 400 years, which has nothing to do with the Kaiping era. In 1649 AD (the third year of Yongli in the Southern Ming Dynasty and the eighth year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty): the Ministry of Rites of the Southern Ming Dynasty approved the establishment of Kaiping County and appointed Wu Shichang as the county magistrate. The jurisdiction was cut off from Xinhui, Enping, and Xingxing, including Dengmingdu, Gubodu, Pingkangdu, Dexingdu, Shuangqiaodu, and Changjingdu.

AD 1573 (the first year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty): Xiejiacangbu in the northeastern territory of Enping The village established a village called Kaiping Village, which later became the county seat. In 1643 of the Gregorian calendar (the 16th year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty): Shen Youlong, the governor of Guangdong, submitted a document to the court, requesting the establishment of Kaiping County. The Ministry of Revenue responded and approved the establishment of Kaiping County. As Qing troops entered the customs, the establishment of the county was put on hold. On October 23, 1949, the entire territory of Kaiping was liberated. This day is Kaiping Liberation Day. AD 1993: On January 5, the State Council approved the county to be removed from the county and established as a city (county level), under the direct jurisdiction of the province (the province entrusted Jiangmen City to take charge). The administrative area of the original Kaiping County will be the administrative area of Kaiping City, and no additional institutions or establishment will be added.
